Short answer on gas prices and refinery capacity…liberal democratic tree-huggers! Oil companies would invest their money in building more capacity, but liberal politicians who support the tree-hugger groups in “protecting the environment” stop them. This is the same reason we have not built more nuclear power plants, which produce cheap and reliable (and “Green) energy.
