I know the font isn't the best, they might as well keep the current one as it suits LH very well. The bird is 100% LH's crane, just tilted to the left a bit. Where did you get the idea that it came from BOAC?
And about the Ryanair style...well, I would have them change their livery, or disappear altogether (can't say I dislike the latter scenario, spotting-wise only of course)
