Cool 35 years old DC-9 model + Question!

I finished this one yesterday. This is an old travel agency display model made by Fermo/Denmark. Scale is 1/72.
Model is an ex-Air Canada, which was transferred to Swissair because of completely faded decals.
The Swissair-Decals were supplied by F-Decal, which is the only company I know offering Decals for DC-9 in this scale (many thanks....). The decals for the vertical stabiliser are self-made to achieve better colour on the non painted alu.

I had severe problems to handle the laser printed Decals. The colour is weak, which gives good image only by application on white painted surface (see above). Protection of the decals with clear coat (even carefully!!) was not possible as well because of deterioration of the colour.

Has anybody of you out there some experience with processing of laser printed Decals?
Usually I prefer commercial decals regulary printed, but in some cases the desired scale or type is not available on the market.

Cheers

Chris
