A couple of weeks ago I was working a PHL-SFO flight. Full of course on the A321. During boarding my supervisor and her family get on.
Great, I thought this is all I need. I really like her, but would like her better if she is one someone elses flight.
Typical 1800 departure out of PHL, it starts storming and we have a indefinite delay on the taxiway. We were serving drinks on the ground and she's in the galley talking to me and basically getting in the way. So I decided to turn the table and have a little fun with her.
I took a stroll to the back of the aircraft then came back to where she was STILL standing in the FC galley. "Hey Sue. you used to be a nurse right" I said. "Yes" she said. "Well, the pregnant lady in one of the main cabin lav's said her water broke in the gate area and now she's crowning. What does that mean". I asked. Her eyes got huge "OMG, we need to call the captain and go back to the gate, she's getting ready to have a baby." She's starting down the aisle, I grab her and said "Only kiddnig". The look on her face was priceless. But hey, it got her out of my galley.
We finally take off and are about an hour out of SFO. She has slept most of the way, thankfully. I walked by and noticed that she was now awake. I asked her How long she had been awake.
"Just now" she said. "Oh, then you didn't hear the announcement?" I asked. "What announcement" she asked. "We're diverting to LAX because of fog in SFO, they don't expect SFO to open until tomorrow moning." "What? I have to be in a wedding tomorrow morning, OMG How am I going to get there?" The woman was panicky. 'just kidding" I said. She recovered again and told me "Bill, might I remind you that I'm your supervisor". I looked at her and said "I know, why do you think I'm doing this to you?"
She laughed and I'm still employeed.
