Exclamation Cleaning adhesive decals

Jehangir is refering to adhesive tape decals, made of plastic film, such as was used for the old Lintoys.

The procedure described by BU767 is for water decals. Take care!

Regarding the old Lintoy/Corgi there's not much you can do. I usually put the models in warm soap-water for a few minutes and clean them in the water with a medium hard brush. Try to reach also the dusty section between the decal and the model.
After cleaning I use simple, clear glue to reattach the decals.
Work must be done carefully.

If above comes into play, I am dealing mostly with some playworn models, where also paint needs to be restored. The impression after all that work is done, is "acceptable". It is not possible to return them completely into "new" models.

If you have unplayed models, just with some peeled off decals, you must be very carefully not to make it worse. In case of doubts, leave them as they are.

Below shows a Lintoy NASA 747. As you can see, no chance to recover the effect of 30 years aging......
