I have the JVC GRDVL805 model. I bought this one like two years ago, so I am sure there are better models out now. But anyways, yes, you are able to actually take a picture of something while you are taking video. Also like Eddy said there are video editing programs that will capture every frame (I use JVC video capture software for my camera). The quality of the pictures isn't extravagant, but it does the job. Hope this helps!
