Well there looks to be a little problem in the two IL-96's, different models, but same registration!

If the IL-96-400 is on the list then that is the only model prevously not made by any 1:500 scale manufacturer, and that's in 2 months of new releases, and we all know what I think about that!

YAWN!

Yeh the reg's are different, so think you're ok to assume the -400T is genuine.

China Eastern is good, I'm glad they're doing more of that livery, but I'd have preferred an A332. Means I can save some money at last. The last few releases have been expensive for me, and still some to get when they finally hit the shops

Well my poor eyes are getting old it would seem!

Well I am glad that some of you collectors have the trouble that there are too many models for you to buy. This model will bring my total to 5 from Herpa in 10 months production, and just 1 model from other manufacturers.

I know I'm harping on about the same old, same old. But COME ON, I have money to spend here and none of the 1:500 scale makers seem to want it!

I'd definately be keen on some of those types, the Saab 2000 and E195 for example. Jetstream 41s would be great, but I am not convinced 1:500 works well on aircraft of this size. I've just had my bmi ERJ145 through, and it's fine, better than I was expecting, but not sure you could go much smaller and pull it off well. That said I've not looked at the Shorts 360 which would give me more of an idea how they cope with very small.

The 787 mould obviously exists given the versions that Herpa have already released (and Hogan of course), and I'm fairly certain there is already a 1:500 ATR-72-600 (in house colours), though I haven't checked the database on this. I also can't imagine it'll be long before we get CRJ-900s and -1000s.

Also some of the models you want are identical airframes to the existing. For example, the Rombac 1-11 was the same as the HS/BAe version, so you only need a release of that in Tarom's livery. The DHC-8-200 is identical visually to the -100, the only real change was the engines in the cowling, and I don't think (from memory) there were any physical alterations that would be visible on a model, so again, you just need this in an appropriate livery and a different label on the box.

EDIT: Done a quick search, ATR-72-600...

So as you can see it is hardlly rocket science to bring out something new and exciting without a massive amount of tooling, expense etc.

I'd love to hear the thoughts of those who make the models, if they made the majority of those models I have shown in blue and red, and they retailed in the £15-20 range they would have £750-1000 from just me!

And thanks for the link to the ATR-72-600, it is not the best of the smaller models unfortunately and for the tie being I shall not be adding it to my collection. I have the Shorts 360 and the Dornier 328Jet which are probably the smallest made so far, for the money they are just fine.

I have based my list on aircraft starting in the 17/19 seat and then upwards, and in production post 1945. If anyone can add t this list I would love to hear from them.

Hi Chris,

BAE 146-100, 146-200, RJ70 and RJ85 (plus cargo versions) need to be modelled correctly in 1:500, all the current Herpa 146 and RJ models are from a 146-300 mould.

Being more specific regarding DC-8s, there are no DC-8-62/72 models in 1:500scale and I believe the only DC-8-63 is incorrect because it has DC-8-61 wings.

I think at the smaller end we have to accept that there is a finite size of airliner that can be produced in 1:500 with the kind of detail we have come to expect and the Dornier 328JET and Shorts 360 have possibly reached that.

Herpa have included some tiny plastic models of helicopters and general aviation aircraft in their 1:500 airport accessory packs. I wonder if there would be a market for the smallest regionals and commuters, sold in multipacks and made in plastic?

You could have a pack of Jetstream 31s and 41s for instance or Embraer 110s and 120s.

We'd have to accept a lack of detail but at least they could be represented in the scale and used for airport dioramas etc.

Concerning the DOMODEDOVO IL96-300 RA -96013 , even if i know this aircraft wore a Green radom nose , they Will probably produce it with this ugly nose , althought thé original colours are with a splendid white nose . Itcis a Pitt for such a rare and fine model .
