Lightbulb Newark Show--Review

I just got back from the Newark show. Looked like attendance was down from last year.

I managed to pick up the following starjet models:

Eastern L1011, Emirates 777-300, & China Southern 777-200
They were $ 16 (USD) each plus 6% tax (Tax people were there).

There were a number of vendors there but oddly the prices varied although they were just a few feet apart. The models I picked up were priced from $ 17 to $ 23.

The cheapest All Nippon model was $ 38.00 for the Herpa 777-
300. I would like an AlL Nippon but not for more than $ 16

The most interesting item was a Virgin 340-300! It was in a HERPA BOX, had the HERPA LOGO.. BUT after careful examination (Bad Paint job) It was a H-T Knock off. The price was $ 25. I passed. It was not worth 25 Cents.

Some other prices:
Herpa UPS 747-100F $ 30..Got mine last year for $ 19
Herpa Continental 777-200 Peter Max $ 35
Herpa DHL AB3F $36

Show was great as usual. I particularly liked the Starjets Herpa A340 NC SAMPLE at Skyjets400 table. I also picked up the Herpa ANK Dolphin 734 and Starjets JAL 744. Now the 1:400 purchases are what drained my wallet. Seemed as though every other person at the show was mentioning Gemini this, Gemini that. Its amazing how quickly a quality product can gain so much acceptance. Good job Gemini. Anyway i'll post about my 1:400 purchases in the other forum. Just wanted to tell everyone about the VS Starjets A340...a beauty. Oh, and Aerodisplays 1:500 bases are superb...great job Colin...they sure do beat the competition!

Chris

Thanks for the review. I makes me wish I had made a better effort to get there to see the planes and meet the people.

What about a DAC Convention of our own somewhere? That would be cool. In Vegas as there is always a cheap flight going there and we could get a tour of ADI and the museum. Plus there are several retailers in the area as well. Just a thought.
