The wheels look much better now, you might be reffering ot the old generation gear, which were practically giant black blobs on the plane. Now they are more true to scale, the only herpa aircraft I could think that is "out of scale" now would be the DC-10. I think that it is just too much like a blob.

Are you talking about the wheels that are black and huge and move. I have to admit i prefer the ones where the wheels are smaller and don't move. They look alot more realistic and to scale this way!!

I have to say that when i got the herpa models i have, i thought they were great. But when we went to London i managed to find a rare Schabak Boeing 777 1/500 amongst 1/600 and other scales. But when i put it up against a 747 made by herpa, the Schabak was a bit wider and bigger, the engines were larger and it was if it was handpainted and not printed. Does this mean that the Schabak model was out of scale or that the Schabak model is the same size as other manufacturers and that herpa is totally out of scale? Does it matter though. I find that herpa offer a better quality of model. I don't care if the nose isn't the right shape or anything like that.

Just compared two BMI Baby models on the model database. One was a herpa 1/200 and one was a Schabak 1/600. The herpa model looked more realistic and didn't have the big dob-off wheels whereas the Schabak model was totally out shape to the real thing and had the body was well away from the surface because it had huge wheels.

Shows that herpa does create a great mould although there are many complaints on the forum.

Acording to my models the B777-300ER is longer then the A340-642, which I didn't think is true.

I checked A.net, the 773 is supposed to be approx. 73m and the A346 is supposed to be around 75m, I'm not too sure on the 773ER, but it seems to only be a 2m diffrence there.
