what do you mean rip you off? their models rock--I've got the JAL and Varig 747s and they're beautiful. The Virgin's will absolutely end up on my tarmac...

Well let's see here I got a regular Herpa 747 (new release) for 15 dollars. The last BigBird I bought (Disney Sea) costed 55 dollars? You don't call that ripping people off?

I purchased all my Herpa Dream Express 1 & 2 for the retail market in Japan approx 40 USD which is understandable considering the licensces, complex liveryand how any plane out of Japan is more expensive then the regular day etc. But 55 dollars for a unlicensced plane. You would have to be completely foolish in thinking that they werent charging exuberent prices for models. Varig 747 for example. Regular livery plane. Retail in the US 28 dollars. The object of BigBird is to pump out as many models as they can as fast as they can with a short term goal of making as much money as they can. Simple as that end of story. Unlicensced models should be cheaper not more expensive.

Thumbs down

I collect 1:400 and used to collect big bird too, since Big Bird brought us some exciting liveries.......but big bird has been increasing the price and too much over price models were made..at least four for this month...EVA, Pockmon and two virgins.

come on, we collectors cannot print money.

I paid $29 for my JAL and Varig models. If they overprice a model, I won't buy it (see StarJets' failed Malaysian 747s--Surembam and whatever the heck the other one was). They tried to price that over $45 each initially--no way I was paying that. Got one of them at a show for $25.
What the hell do you people think these companies are here for in the first place, though? Charity? Hardly. They're here to make money. That's why people start businesses. If you like the model, buy it. If you don't, that's your choice.

NWO--Of course you can express an opinion--just as I did. Price is definitely a factor in buying planes--I just don't feel that Big Bird is out to rip people off, especially since they're providing much-wanted liveries at decent prices.

No offense but you call 55 dollars reasonable for an unlicensed model?

sorry as much as i like these BB releases, i think the prices are a little over the top. I would like these Virgins and the same with the NM, in a way the BB of 757's, UPS 757's. However these prices are crazy. I mean i love the models and if it weren't for these companies we would probably never see these planes, but $50 for one of the Virgin planes, and $35 for one of the UPS planes is a lot to me.

Actually those 757s are made by Netmodels. If you lived in HK you could actually get them for 18USD but eztoyz has them for 35. Where the extra 17 dollars comes from I have no clue.
