here is a pic of an older release Herpa BA Concorde in Landor scheme I was able to pick up from an on-line store (at a pretty good price, too).
I replaced its OG MAG WHEELS with some Schabak 1:500 scale wheels and now it looks just right: Last edited by parvezq; 06-09-2002 at 02:19 PM. |

Parvezq, that's a pretty cool modification you made there! Looks good, although isn't the bag a bit lower than the front? Is the real 1:1 concorde like that? If not, maybe you can shorten the front gear or extend the main gear by filling the slots with putty or something? Just a thought, but a great idea!
Cheers. Steve

Actually Steve, it's pretty realistic, the real Concorde is a bit like that
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/237096/L/ Very nice mod, parvezq! I had something similar in mind but haven't done it on my models yet ![]() Federico

Thanks guys.
Actually the other defect in this model is one I cannot fix: The cheatline and passenger windows are way too high on the fuselage. I think Herpa actually re-released this model with the correction before they abandoned the Landor altogether (the new ones being the Union Jack and Air France, BUT still both OG..yukk!) Parvez |

VCE, thanks for enlightening me about the Concorde!
Now I take back what I previously posted. Parvezq, that's a fantastic mod you made! I started this hobby collecting 1:600 Schabaks, among other stuff, when I was little, but now I certainly don't buy any of them nor do I know where my previous collection went (probably with my parents), but did Schabaks have good gears on their 1:500 models? It really does look good! Maybe I should try that myself! I do want a Concorde in my collection! Cheers.

Steve
As an ex-1:600 Schabak-er myself, I moved on to 1:400 scale as my main collection. I started to collect 1:500 SJ and 1:500 NG Herpa to supplement/complement my 1:400 collection. The most baffeling aspect about Schabak is that in their 1:500 scale collection, they have scale plastic gears BUT STILL DO THEIR PISS-POOR DECALING JOB...and BELIEVE ME..it looks much MORE WORSE on a larger 1:500 than a 1:600 model. I guess the the Concorde modifcation is a result of two evils making a right. I've done this on the OG Herpa Shamu SW 737, but I know they re-releasing it as NG. I hope Herpa starts getting aggressive in upgrading their line to NG because I'll be all over it then. regards Parvez |

This is just my opinion, but the scheme on Concorde really doesn't make any difference for me since all of them has white belly and just the tail is different...

Parvez,
Thanks for sharing, you did a great job. Did you ever find the Herpa AA300? I did get one and it is great! Thanks, Bill Hopefully SJ will do the Concorde soon....how about in BRANIFF colors!

Bill
no..i saw it at an on-line shop in Germany (i think Aviation Center-Berlin) but it way too expensive especially with the shipping from there. Anyway I had to budget to get some older Gemini Pan Ams from e-bay that cost me a good bit. Hopefully, i'll get the AA A300 soon from SOMEWHERE. regards Parvez |

I'm sorta surprised that Schabak's 1:500 line consists of scaled gears. I always had an image, and still do, that Schabaks' planes are more of a toy than a model. Anyway, now I'll probably look out for some cheap 1:500 Schabaks to use for parts. I could use some mod-ing on my OG Herpas! ![]() Also, can you post some pics, whenever you do your mods? Thanks again.
