Default Changing gears

Under the post, "New Herpa Releases," parvezq mentions using the landing gears from one plane (Schabak) to replace the Herpa OG gears. Can anyone comment on how this might be done, particularly someone who has done so successfully?

Cheers,

BB

Can't help you with your question, but your moniker is comical.
How'd you arrive at that one?

Why would you put crappier gear on a crap gear plane?

Actually I did that to an Delta MD-88. I attached a picture of it. Turned out fairly good.

Gunship01,

Re: the name.

It's ancestral. And widespread throughout the Shire.

I actually broke off the old generation gears so there was still something in the whole. I then got the gear off a Schabak 747-400 and cut it right at the tire and simply glued it onto the md-88.

That looks really nice!

I've done something similiar to my TWA MD-83 " Wings of pride". I took the wheels from main landing gears of a Schabak Caravelle for main landing gears on the MD-83, and made the nose gear and wheels by myself, using thin brass cord and plastic rod.

Cheers,

Hi Butterscotch

Remember, you have to use Schabak 1:500 (not 1:600) scale.

It is a pretty neat trick if you HAVE to have a Herpa OG. I used the same procedure that NK-NBT described.

the only problem is I have to buy Schabaks just for the gears/wheels, but I think it is worth it if you really have to have that livery/model.

sorry i dont have pics, but my Shamu 737 SWA and BA concorde really look neat.

regards

Parvez
