Smile Bush pilot antics

A few years ago I had a calendar called "Bush Pilot Antics". One month's pic had a 737 outfitted with skis about to land on a glacier. I wish I had saved it, it was very funny.

Neat--I'd never seen an MD-11 like that. It seems to most commonly happen to DC-10's, 727's, and IL-62's. I would have figured the MD-11 would be less prone to tipping than the DC-10, due to having a much smaller tailplane, and so much of the empennage being composite---there'd be so much (proportionately) less weight in the back. You know, I never see UPS planes tipped---it's always FedEx--even though they have many of the same types of planes.

Is that an anchor cable holding the nose of that FedEx MD-11 down? Sweet crap - how many times has this happened that FedEx knows to tie the nose down before loading the aircraft?

Here, I found this in my archives:

When I was leaving ONT one time on Delta. Someone taped a big green neon paper to the cockpit that said hi. I thought it was pretty amusing.

Default Re: humorous pics

great job guys, keep em coming. Just a thought, airliners.net used to have a humor section with pics of a United DC-10 flying under the golden gate, and a Southwest shamu 737 poised on the end of the USS Enterprise for a cat shot!!! Also there was an American Eagle ATR with a sign in the window saying "for sale".

Those are all funny. My favorite though, is a cartoon. The Far Side to be exact. Gary Larson had a Christmas card a few years ago in which Santa, the sleigh, and several of the reindeer were smacked by an oncoming jumbo, presumably a 747.

The pilots are sitting in the cockpit totally unaware of what is happening. Santa is splattered all over the nose, all four limbs out, entangled with the reindeer, and a few presents are careening off to the side of the frame. I just about laughed my a$$ off when I saw that.

The Simpsons also had a good gag in their parody episode of Mary Poppins. As the venerable nanny is taking off from the Simpson's front yard on her umbrella, the kids ask Homer if they will ever see her again. At about the time when Homer is replying that they would, she gets sucked into the #1 engine of a low flying plane, drawn, if I remember correctly, to look like a 767.

Question

Maybe that is where Ryan Air got the idea for their 'Santa' scheme?

Imagine parents flying with their 3 year old for the first time around Christmas, and having the kid see that.
