Default Wife Support Group

Collecting can be a very important issue to us, but is it as important to our wives? Does collecting cause stress in your relationships? Are you waiting till their not around to bring in your newest models?

I think it's time to start a support group for our wives and girlfriends. Let's let them know how we feel about our beloved hobby and love.

But wait. Is it really a good idea to get the voices of reason together? I have a hard enough time trying to convince my wife to allow me to get a new model. I could always use the, "What they don't know won't hurt them!", but is that fare? Yes it is when it comes to our collecting. You have got to do what you got to do.

Any one else have these type of concerns?

Get them all together in one room, and Asher is a dead man.

Perhaps this is not such a good idea.

Cool Whatever you do, don't do it here!

DAC is our hangout, and if our wives start hanging around here too, what fun is that?

My wife is pretty understanding about the whole thing. She likes it a whole lot more than high-end audio, which I used to really be a fanatic about.

If your wife grinches about $25 models, she ain't seen *****! (Did I just sound like Dave Aaron?) Try getting yourself a really obnoxious hobby--like high-end audio. Once you start spending $16,000 for a vacuum tube amplifier that takes up half the living room floor, or a $3000 tonearm, or a half a grand for a collectible LP, she'll warm up to your little airplanes in no time!

Let the wives start their own DAC. Diecast Anti-aircraft.Com. We don't need their bashing here. We do it enough to each other!!

Actually, Dave would have spelled it schit, as in schitcocktoast.

Moose, thats funny!

And as far as support goes, well I say let 'em go out and get their own jobs for support, see?

Put them all together? No way, we might just end up with them "asking" for things like diamonds (3 carats and up please...) in exchange for their "allowing" us to buy and keep these planes.

It's kind of scary, my wife already mentioned to me something about a support group for collectors' spouses over a month ago.

Maybe, they already started and this rumors are the far sounds of a stampede....better I get my horse...and be outta of here w/ my planes)

Misa thinks our wives have already started banding together and is now attempting to make it appear like we're the ones who have thought this up.

Has somebody been turned?! Do we have a double agent? We need an investigating committee, Moose, Tom, T-Man, you guys up for the jobs?

Nah ... I need a support group for the wife-less and girlfriend-less. Collecting planes at least gives me something to do ... believe me, privacy and loneliness are OVERRATED!

Nice empire avatar. I remember this airline. They used to fly the Fellowship "Dutch oven" and the Swearingen Metro with a rocket engine in the aft fuselage for extra boost!

Yeah, Anthony, I agree. But I have gotten used to being on my own. Hey, being single has its advantages.

When I walk in the house with a model, I walk in the house with a model.

The women I do have over get a look on their face when they see my curios the likes of which makes me think that I might soon be getting a call from their shrink, but there's not too much they can do about it. Yet.

One never knows when one might get serious. I think most women look at me and think... "OK, he's a teacher in Florida, and he buys hundreds of little expensive model planes. How good is he at managing money?"

Pete,

Just tell them that your retailer/accountant manages your money just fine!
