Cool Made Just For You

Well with every new 1/400 release it would seem that each one would have extra special appeal or significance to someone out there. Case in point (for me) - the pending DW Westjet 732. Reasons for this: I see 'em all the time, I know a lot of people who fly on them (unfortunately not me as yet!), and Westjet is a major economical player in our province. So when the model finally arrives it will hold a truly special place in my collection.

I think each of us has our own special plane we want to see modelled, and some are lucky enough to already have it available (like Chicken). I'm curious to find out whether most are still waiting for theirs to be made -

I'd like to see a Virgin 747 in their original colors. I flew them a couple of times from New York to London in the mid to late 80's when they had less than a handful of planes. Right now, the only model I have in that scheme is a Matchbox Skybusters that I bought in-flight!

If the 3 (2?) companies finished up with the rest of the Deltas (all three liveries) I'll die almost happy.

My dreams were the Aloha 737-200, Hawaiian DC-9, and last but not least, the YS-11 Mid- Pacific .

Yes, the Aloha was a wonderful gift.

And now Andrew Klein is giving me the next gift that I do not deserve.

He is one good man , Andrew thank you for letting dreams come true.

Ironically enough, Westjet is the first Canadian airliner I have seen in my travels. The reason being is that when going to ORD I am on the wrong side of the airport, else I would have seen several Air Canada's. I litterally live on planes at my job...and when my first trip to Calgary came about...I came in on a AA MD-80 and pulled in across from a Westjet 737. From that point on I wanted one of these in my collection.

Strangely enough, as soon as I saw that Westjet, I started seeing Air Canada planes all over! So, at least I got a nice intro to Canadian liveries before seeing "mama".

Bill,

I agree. GJ and DW have released a great variety of airliners yet. I was looking for an L-1011 of LTU - and I still am. Why? The GJ LTU L-1011-500 was quite horrible considering GeminiJets' regular quality standard (missing remarkable details, bad fuselage paint design).

I really hope their marketing alliance with German manufacturer Schuco will result in another LTU L-1011, may be their original L-1011-1 registered D-AERA (the only -1 LTU purchased from Lockheed).

In approximate order, I want: (I'll suggest reg numbers, as well--it's better if it's a plane you've seen or flown on, or simply the first one you ever saw a pic of)

N211MD, MD-11 in house purple and gold. (only MD-11 prototype in full house colors--N111MD was bare w/titles, N311MD had no stripes)
TWA twin-stripe 767-200 N601TW
Midway red/gray DC-9-30 N940ML
American MD-11 (a GOOD one) N1760A
BA Landor 767-300 G-BNWW "City of Marseilles"
TWA twin stripe 727, DC-9-30, and 747-100 N54350, N927L, and N93103
Continental red-meatball 727-200
United 1989 scheme 737-200 N9051U
America West oc 737-300
United oc 757-200 N556UA
United 1989 DC-10-10 (the one UA DC-10 no one makes) N1831U
PSA final MD-80
Cathay Pacific A330
Air Inter delivery scheme A320-100

Things they've made that I really like/wanted:

KLM 747-400
KLM MD-11
United nc 747-400
All the UA 767's
Thai MD-11
PA A300
Air Cal 733
Western (white) DC-10
Eastern 757
Eastern nc L-1011

For me it was the Canadian DC10-30 "Spirit of Canadian" (signatures). The rest of the Canadian family were a dream come true, now they need to finish the job with the CP 732, DC10, 722, all the PWA's and Wardair's...... I know, dream on.
I would be happy to see all the BA Landors produced including the 707.

British Airways 747-236B (Landor) first and foremost.
Then all of the Landor aircraft.
Then the Red Tail aircraft.
Then BOAC/BEA.
All of the Union Flag aircraft.
All of the world tails.

Anything else? Who would need more?!

I would like to see a GJ UAL 757-200 because I fly on one of these birds at least once a month.

The UAL 777-200 needs to be released as well because UAL was the launch customer for the 777 program and I think no collection would be complete without a decent model of this bird from Gemini.

Another model would be the Air Tanzania 737-200. Why, well becuase it is so Africa and I have seen the Kilimijaro ship several times over the years in various parts of Africa.

Well, I'm OBVIOUSLY dreaming about a four set of Air West 721's!

Pink/Orange
Med Blue/Moss Green
Lime Green/Lt Blue
Burnt Orange/Moss Green

Another four set I'd jump for...

Alaska icon tail 721's

Eskimo
Prospector
Totem
Onion Domes

And of course,

PSA 721 double red cheat
Air California 732 Goldtail/Sun logo
Continental 722 BLACK meatball!

I've been very lucky, when Aeroclassics releases the Mohawk F 27, I will have the first three planes I flew on as a kid, the F27, Mohawk's BAC 111 and American's 727 Astrojet.

I need the following planes to complete my "flown on" list:

Southern DC9
Eastern 727, DC9
USAir DC9, 737, 727
Alleghany DC9

I hate the fact that I have no photos, and no reg number for my first plane. I only know that it was a TWA DC-9. Probably -30, but could have been any version. I was only 9, and didn't even know what a reg number was. Mom took pics of the 2nd and 3rd planes though, and years later, when I was going through the vacation pics (went to Disney World) there they were---clearly visible reg numbers of the 2nd and 3rd planes--both 727-200's. So while I want a TWA twin-stripe DC-9 as it was my first plane, I really want a twin-stripe 727-200, as I have pics of them--N54350 and N54327----50's a -200Adv, BTW--I remember spilling my orange juice on the flight--hey, I was only 9. Also, 9 years later, about the only other TWA 727 I've ever seen---I saw 54350 at DCA. I really wish I'd been old enough to know to take pics/reg numbers at an early age. I was only 9 and 10 when I saw some great, rare stuff that I'd give anything to get pics/reg numners again, and will probably never see again. Stuff like personal faves such as TWA 747's, 747SP's, L-1011's, America West 747's, anything Eastern, and, seeing how I was at STL twice, I probably saw a TWA 767-200---my absolute favorite plane, which I have never seen (that I know of). Probably saw a Pan Am plane somewhere once. The only way I know I ever saw an Eastern plane was my Dad took a random photo at Orlando--and there was an Eastern 727-200 in the bare metal w/wide stripes scheme. Reg number visible, but too blurry to ever make out--even took it to a photo lab to try to get reg number, but it was just to0 blurry---110 film is really bad for detail on planes on the other end of the terminal.
