I have a fasination of retired airliners in the desert. So I customized an extra Jet-X Delta MD-11 that has been retired (sometime in the future) and set it in a desert diorama. It looks better in person, the pics did not turn out the greatest but you get the idea. I'm working on another one at the moment to place across from the MD-11. Some will probably think I'm nuts destroying a perfectly good model, but hey it was an extra one I had.

MZJ at its finest! Stunning Kev...
I am working on some storage scenery...should have some to show sooner or later... With Dragon Wings of course...I don't feel like "dremeling" for 10 hours on metal.

Marc, my thought exactly! Doing a GJ would be spark city!
NEADC9 - I taped off and used white spray paint. The weathering I did would have peeled off the tape. I'm going to do my next model different. Thanks guys! |

Great job Kevin!
This could be one way we could "recycle" those old DW models, when DW rereleases them with their updated moulds (ex: the JAL 777-300 and MD-11). Just an idea... - Bill |

Wow, this would be a great side piece to an airport model, kinda like MIA's bone yeard.

Kevin, I think it looks great!
I've thought about doing that before... not to the extent that you did though. Nice job removing the ailerons and engines. The painted-over titles and tail logo look good, also. Thanks for sharing the pics! Rick |

Impressive work, Kevin. However, I just heard that Delta needs engine #2 as well for replacement on another ship... how do you manage the removal of this? Just kiddin'!

Having spent 5 years baking in the sun in what was known as MASDC (sp?) in Tucson, this looks like a great rendition of how the civilian group "moth balls" their aircraft. It really sucked to see row upon row of F-4s at the storage facility in DM.
Very nice job.

This looks quite realistic. I wouldn't do it to one of my models, but if it was a re-released model I guess theres nothing to lose.
Looks good - great detailing. |

It is a shame to mess up a great model like that...but at least you messed it up good! It does look like a sun-faded/logo-stripped hulk. I don't buy disposable models...but if I find one, your idea is getting stolen.

Finally, there is a use for the Delta Jet-X model! |

Plus I have more grass than that on my homestead. Put more grass, some mesquite and pecan trees, a doublewide and a couple of beat-up trucks on blocks and you'll have my place in Gun Barrell City, Texas, down pat.
