It's JC Wings' new mould... They are the only brand which creates new moulds nowadays... Hopefully we see some JC E-Jets (175,190,195) soon!

Absolutely! It's good to have at least one manufacturer bringing something unexpected every month!

Re: 1:400 DC3 new mould
Good for JC. When you have a monopoly, like AC with retro releases, the result is ever increasing prices, no customer service and sliding quality. Not saying JC will be any better in any of those categories, but iit will certainly keep the competition honest.
I just went and ordered my first JC model (Air China L-100). While it has some problems and I wasn't going to get it, I decided that I will support this manufacturer with my wallet. Now please bring us a China Xinjiang IL-86.

The only brand?
That's funny, I could have sworn I bought a new DC-4 last month, a DC-7 the previous month, and a B.377 the month before that. That same maker, also has a DC-3.
I agree that I would love to see some ERJs soon!!!!!!!!!

That's a lot of exclamation points from a new user. Hmmmm....
It's also funny how quickly the same post disappeared from that "same maker's" forum.

Re: 1:400 DC3 new mould
Hope the tailplanes do not have dihedral on them on this mould!!! I am sure there is room for more than one DC-3 mould. I understand it served with a few airlines and may even have seen some military service!!!!!!

Sandy, you forgot Herpa have one also? Don't know what that's like as I don't have one, but prop spinners look rather long.

I had forgotten actually. Another under used DC- mould from our German friends. Yes, the spinners do look rather elongated here. Still, if they did a Starways or BUA one, i'm sure you would get it!! I would love an Emerald or Air Ulster one. But then so many DC-3s came thru the workshops at Prestwick that I could go overboard on them.

Don't forget the IL-18. The comment that only JC Wings comes out with new moulds is uninformed at best; dishonest at worst.

Re: 1:400 DC3 new mould
Looks pretty good to me. I love the engines and props.
The nose/cockpit needs some more work though. It might just be the angle of the shot but the nose seems a bit pointy.
The cockpit window is missing a pillar in the main panel and the centre pillar should be more vertical. It seems DC-3 cockpits present challenges for more than just one manufacturer!
Overall, a pretty good effort from JC.

Very interesting, especially when you think the DC-3 is a never ending source of inspiration.
I would have commented the supposedly lack of innovative manufacturers but...

I had a Herpa American Airlines DC-3, and I was not impressed. And you're right, the spinners are waaay too long, they would point downward.

This DC-3 looks very attractive.
How small it is next to the Britannia!
I am hoping for some Li-2 versions myself.
However I am happy to wait as I see a beautiful Transeuropean lady coming my way!!

Hmm ... future of this hobby? (are you just stirring Andrew? )
They are showing great promise but have still got work to do to achieve the same standards as AeroClassics.
Most of their new 1/400 releases have been let down by oversized toylike landing gear. This is a shame because they have come up with some great stuff.
I would love to see more retro classics from JC Wings but, geez, they will have to address the landing gear issue if they really want to challenge AeroClassics.
Just my 2c worth ...
Gavin
EDIT: Mind you, reviewing some of the new releases posted in this thread, JC Wings may already be lifting their game - watch out Andrew!

Re: 1:400 DC3 new mould
I want the TransEuropean IL-86 (that will be 3 for 3) and the Shorts 360 for starters.
The DC-3 is a little cutie but agree with Gavin about maybe too pointy nose.
But I just hope the moudl gets some use and then Aussie liveries galore.
I think they are improving and putting aside other manufacturers products, these are considerably cheaper therefore more appealing to the collector in this day and financial age. That in itself is a reason not to just snub without consideration.
Finally, they keep giving the collectors new goodies and quite frequently too which is a good thing.

I second the Catalina Flying Boats colors! I spent many days fueling these old birds and would love to see that one done. I'm not holding my breath though. It sure is good to have a manufacturer that cranks out new moulds. Great work JC wings!.

I have to apologize to JC Wings - in fact the particular machine they have modelled here only had a four piece windshield, so in fact is correct as represented. Full points for attention to detail!
Obviously not all DC-3s/C-47s had the familiar additional pillars (making it a six piece windshield).

Re: 1:400 DC3 new mould
AC just announced the same DC-3. AK must have been in the factory making the models himself to get it out that fast.
I saw that movie "Duplicity" the other day. The title sequence with the two CEO's beating up on each other need to be acted out by AK and JC.
