Unhappy Aeroclassics DC-10

I just recieved an Aeroclassics SQ DC-10 which I bought off e-Bay. The seller advertised it as 'New', but the front landing gear came detached in a small plastic along with a seperate piece for the front landing gear doors.

The other weird thing I noticed how in addition to the normal translucent plastic covering the fuselage, this model also had white tissue paper under it.

Is this normal for AC DC-10 models to be shipped like this, or am I being sold a used and defective model? I don't want to harass the seller without good cause.

Addressing your first concern, all the Aeroclassics DC-10 came with front landing gear detached in order to avoid it from being broken during shipping. A little bit of super glue or hobby cement should do the trick. Note same thing also applies to all the Big Bird 747 models.

Your second concern doesn't sound like a concern to me at all. My guess is the seller provided some "extra" tissue for greater protection, that's all. As long as the model is in good condition, I don't see why it would be a used or defective model.

Ok, thanks! Positive feedback for the seller then.

Good catch. I too just "caught" this from a shop in Singapore. Was walking around & couldn't believe my luck when I saw this on display. I check it & indeed it was a an AC SQ DC-10. It sure made my day.

What did you pay for it? I saw it at one place for S$68 another place for S$85. And the two stores were literally right next to each other.

It is a nice model - I have it and indeed, the nosegear comes detached in a little plastic bag.

If you received it glued in place (as mine now is) then you could possibly consider it "used".

I paid SGD 64.00. The name of the shop is Time Machine Studio. Its located at Millenia Walk.

Be quick. They only had 3 models. I bought one. One is on display & the other is kept in the store.

Yes, that's the store I was thinking of. I already have that model. The Nikko place next door sells it for 80+. That place is a rip-off, but they have the 50% off all Dragons. Mostly Euro/North and South American models, but also a few Asian ones at reasonable prices. I picked up a Southwest 737 for S$10.

At the Time Machine place, do you happen to know who makes the Singapore 747 they have for sale in the window? Is it the same one that is sold on-board Singapore Airlines?

Another issue is the AC American DC-10-30 with the glue issue. I am going to sell the 2 I have but debating on whether to glue the wings myself or have a disclaimer in the auction that the entire production run itself has this problem and to have the buyer glue them together after they buy them, this way I am not accused of a defective product.

I'm not sure about the SQ 744's. I think its China Exclusives from the data base. Bear in mind that they gor the engines colours wrong. Its NOT white. The one that sells on board SQ in flight is the Herpa 744.
