Question OT: AA photo significance?

I was taking a look at the most often viewed airline photos
at www.airliners.net, and although virtually all are truly spectacular, I couldn't understand the significance of the fourth most popular shot: the American Airlines take-off at Zurich (photo number 137414). Would somebody kindly enlighten me as to what makes that shot special. (And I'm not being sarcastic; I really don't know.)

Cheers, and happy landings,

Gerry K

A 777 making serious vapour is a very fleeting and dramatic sight, great shot to have captured it!
I now have it as wallpaper, thanks for the tip!

Any photo by Pixair is a winner. Nice guy, too.

I had that one as my wallpaper a while back, Ozz. I recommend searching using "pixair" from time to time for some amazing photos.

The third most popular shot -- the landing of the Air France 747 over the beach at St. Maarten -- depicts an area that is truly spectacular for spotting, or more accurately, viewing. Many years ago, my wife and I stood there photographing planes, and we could almost touch the wheels.

That Air France looks as though it were super-imposed over a beach shot, but not so. It's an untouched, legitimate photo.

Happy landings,

Gerry K

If you like that you should see the St Maartens video from Just Planes, it is truly an eye popper, very well done!

Colin, thanks for the tip, I shall do just that.

Anyone know why a high altitude airport like Zurich has so much humidity?

This posting reminds me that on my first Air Chance flight I got a postcard of a 747 landing. There's no runway, nothing but green grass!

Ozz,

I did purchase the St Maarten video, but I'm saving it for a snowy day. Haven't seen it yet.

Cheers,

Gerry K
