Would of course take an order from Delta itself...
Not true...Delta isn't one of the bigger airline customers in terms of models ordered. Only recently (within the last year or so) has Delta starting making orders, and the big order was for the "Spirit of Delta" B762. If it's something new, chances are GJ is going to be all over it.

I'm willing to bet money that GJ will have N665US in Delta colors out around Feb/Mar (my guess is February). This is a huge media deal for Delta, and it shows by how quickly they got the new flagship aircraft in the paint shop (along with the 757, A320, and DC-9). It wouldn't be a surprise at all to see GJ given the green light ASAP for it.
I wouldn't be suprised if its added as a late announcement to the January set. Its happend the past few months with late additions (like the DL 737) so its not impossible.

Im no fan of Delta but only because there over produced on models and just about everything delta is done, i dont know what that tail is supposed to be but being a 747 and needing something to represent my first delta in my collection this would be a sure buy and probably coming from Gemini soon.
The DELTA name is too high up the aircraft too

The tail is the famous Widget logo rotated on its side and enlarged to utilize the popular negative space concept that many airlines are using for today's liveries. And I don't know if I'd say that "just about everything Delta is done." There is still no MD-88 or MD-90 in any Delta livery, along with the absence of a 737-200 in 1997 colors, 737-300 in Widget and 1997 colors, 767-200 in ANY standard livery, domestic 767-300 in 1997 and 2000 colors, international 767-300 in Widget and 2007 colors, and 777-200(ER) in 2007 colors. Just the fact alone that there have been ZERO MD-88 releases means that there's a gaping hole in any collector's Delta fleet. However, I definitely agree that the Delta titles are undersized with this color scheme.

Amazing to see a 747 in DL livery...it's been what? 30+ years?? I sure hope they do a retro-jet livery on one of them, in the ORIGINAL 747 livery of early 70's! (And while they're at it, how about a 763 in WA Indian Head livery!! Wouldn't THAT be sweet!)

Surely, the reason that the tiles are undersized is that they want them visible even with two jetways attached. Since the Delta name recognition must be very low in the Asian market, where the 747 will likely fly to, they want to make sure people can see and learn the brand.

I could've sworn the repainted jet I saw at JFK last week was a 764, but maybe it was a 763. Have they not yet sent 764's to the paint shop?
AFAIK, none of the 764s have been repainted yet. N838MH has the 2004 Widget, but that's about it. Also, the 764s aren't scheduled through JFK right now...just the 763s.

I wasn't referring to just the 747. This livery in general has undersized titles.

Forgive me, but what does it mean that a jet has the 2004 Widget?
Theres two different widgets, but I'm not sure which one was first.
The lower shot of the 737-832 shows the modified, curved Widget that was introduced with the Wavy Gravy livery in March 2000. It was supposed to be a modernized Widget.
The first shot of the 767-332(ER) shows the "revised" Widget that Delta reverted to in 2004, which is the previous version used on the 1997 livery and earlier. From what I heard, the employees didn't care much for the curved Widget and wanted to go back to how it used to look. When Grinstein took over as CEO after Mullin, he had the Widget changed back to how it was, but kept the Wavy Gravy livery. So all aircraft that were repainted into Wavy Gravy colors from 2004 onward don't have the curved Widget. Many aircraft that had the curved Widget were also repainted with the old Widget.
