Default Airbus 300

I just noticed that in my collection of over two hundred 1:400 models, I do not have an A300 model. Any suggestions on a good one to have in my collection? I sort of like the Pan Am models? Input would be helpful. Thanks.

It's rather a difficult question to answer because we all have different tastes in airline liveries and schemes. But in terms of A300 mould, Aeroclassics has by far the best A300 mould in this scale, so an Aeroclassics A300 in the livery you like may be a good place to start.

You also mentioned you like Pan Am, mm, there are 17 identical looking(different registration) Pan Am A300s by Aeroclassics at the moment, so just pick your favourite rego number?

Well, if what you are looking for is a 'valuable' or in other word, rare and hard to find A300 model, the one that pops directly into my head are Qantas A300, Australian A300, TAA A300, Korean A300 by Aeroclassics and American A300,Air France A300 by greenbox.

Aeroclassics are the best looking A300's. There are lots of Pan Am A300's around for a good price, go with that.

Yeah, all with the wrong engines. (I'd love to get an Alitalia one if not for the engines). And CO's all have the wings painted wrong in addition to the engines. Sigh, if only they'd based the mold on the other 95% of GE-powered A300's, and not the first 2 dozen ever built. Could still do all the same schemes, only with the correct engines...

IMHO, JX's EA and DW's PAA are the most accurate A300s out there.

For a -600, DW makes the only at all accurate one. Though they somehow totally screwed up their AA one in multiple ways.

I am being very selective with 747 and A300 models, as it's so easy to get carried away and end up with far too many. The Aeroclassics A300 is superb and I have just three, all of which I've flown in - Olympic, Thai International and Air France - love them all!

I have the Green Box Models Air France, the Aeroclassics Iberia, Air Inter, Air France / Iberia - Split and the Herpa DHL.
All great models... but only one problem;... Please Aeroclassics forget in future releases the rolling gears.

My Iberia A300 arrived in the mail half an hour ago and it's great. I only have 3 A300's so far, what I'd like is a Lufthansa one in 1970's livery. I built an Airfix kit of this as a kid and would like a 1:400 example nowadays for a bit of 'memory lane' indulgence.

Easy... The choice is quite simple it depends what takes your fancy, livery choice or ascetics or accuracy and how much your prepared to pay. Putting livery to one side as in most cases there is very little overlap between the 4 A30X manufactures HW,DW,AC[GB] ,PH.

DW A30X is probably the most accurate (paging L1011-Heavy), in terms of finish and ascetics the AC A30X is much better. Phoenix is probably the weakest of the 4 (imo).

I would personally decide what I want to give importance to and go from there, in some senses it depends what kind of collector you are, purist, moderate or don't care.

Roll with the Aeroclassics Pan Am's as they are plentiful.

Thanks for all your input into my question. I will lean towards Aeroclassic's mold. I do like the new Air France/Iberia split model. Although I did get certified as a flight attendant on the Pan Am A300! Decisions decisions!!
