Re: JC wings BAC111 Australia Air Force
More originality from them?? Whose mould did they knock-off for this one?
I would like to think it is a custom paint job, done by one heck of a good modeler.

That looks pretty good - the livery anyway. Not sure about the mould as I'm not a 1-11 coinessuer (or a good speller either! :P)
Andrew, don't suppose AC has one of these in the works? Maybe?

And I do hope that the Juicy Competition Company has a B707 mould coz then we can get the long requested and totally overdue triple pack in RAAF schemes.

All hail the Juicy Competition company
Hail the juicy comp, a triple pack will be just dandy, mine ordered too, I hope
A 707 set will strech my budget bigger than an elephant in a G-string
However, I have promised the 2 RAAF 1-11s would be on the shelves of my "annointed" on time for the Christmas 2008 shopping season!
But I think that post has since been removed, as I can only find my own and Unicorn's references to the quote, but not the original.

Not 1/400 scale...but could be of interest to fellow Aussies?
Brand new in 1/130 from Rise Soon.
I've had these produced for the Flight Crews at 34 Squadron and the Maintenance Crews at Qantas Defence Services, based at RAAF Base Fairbairn (Canberra).
These have been produced in exact accordance to the official RAAF B737BBJ Drawings and Colour Guide.
I have Licensing approval from the RAAF to supply a VERY limited amount to other interested parties, but most of the entire production run (only 300) are pre-sold.
Contact me on: holdsworthac@bigpond.com if interested.
Where is everyone getting these from? Can someone shoot me a PM?
Dan

Apart from the extra wide landing gear (which can sometimes be a deal killer for me) this model looks otherwise acceptable IMO. I have seen it stated by others that it has the wrong wings and tail as well, but after comparing photo's on a.net I can't see any obvious errors (possibly chunky wings). The engines are a major improvement on other versions of this model currently on the market!

If any Australian collectors are having issues obtaining this model, Hobbyco in Sydney has both this aircraft and the companion Royal Aircraft Establishment aircraft, price is $39 before your 10% Hobbyco members discount.

After all the slagging off these models got, I was sceptical about their quality. However, both the RAE and RAAF examples arrived today and I am VERY surprised at how good they are! I can't see Aeroclassics improving on these and hope between JC Wings, GJ and AC, they all produce different 1-11s. I guess as all are so secretive about their plans, that will just be pot luck!.

I hope you are right Adrian. As the RAAF only ever operated 2 BAC-111's, I'm hoping that Andrew releases his with the other registration number. Quoting from my thread in another forum...
The RAAF operated 2 BAC-111 (200 series) between 1968 and 1990. They joined three Mystere 20 jets, with two HS748s and two Viscount turboprop transports, making the RAAF VIP fleet nine strong, of four different types. The two BAC 111s used the radio callsigns VM-NLG and VM-NLH. The BAC 111, as the long-range member of the VIP fleet, often made overseas trips to New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Asia. Perhaps the longest trip undertaken was in October 1971 to Iran. In 22 years' service the BAC 111s flew over 25,000 hours with No 34 Squadron before being replaced by the Falcon 900 in 1989.
The flaws, errors and imperfections of such tiny models are revealed under the scrutiny of a macro lens but on a diorama (or display shelf) from normal viewing distances they look very acceptable.
Things that could be improved would be the landing gear, the cockpit windows and the treatment of the exhaust end of the engines.
Still, as I say, from a distance it looks just how I remember them ...
Uni, CAM in Melbourne have them for $35 Oz dollars, sorry mate but HobbyCo are just ripping the collectors!
Perhaps, but thats before postage, so for Sydney collectors after discount and without postage the Hobbyco price is better.
For Melbourne customers the reverse is obviously true.

I'll still get the Aeroclassics version hopefully and if Andrew reads this it could be a two back with 33 SQN on the box, with both a BAC-111 and a 707 in the blue and white scheme. Now there is a Marketing exercise for you Andrew. That would sell out!!
