Needless to say, that "City of Perth" is definitely coming to my Perth Airport diorama!!!

City of Townsville will be coming too to represent the earlier years.

What an absolutely superlative job Andrew has done with these.

Since I have been collecting 1/400 scale airliners (a couple of years) I have watched the standard of these little gems just getting better and better.

Say what you like about the man, Andrew sure sets the benchmark for quality in this scale. And, credit where credit is due, he has listened to comments from the market and responded by correcting mistakes and improving his product. I am impressed. Look at the coroguard on this release compared to early AC releases - this is spot-on.

My only observation is that the 1970s version should have an overwing emergency walkway printed (unless it represents the period immediately prior to their introduction).

Nonetheless, I can't wait to receive mine and display them on my airport.

Not sure about the others, though they probably feel the same way as I do in that it doesn't matter. As a fleet builder, I'll get both of them, and I'm somewhat glad I didn't jump on purchasing the Gemini version because these look so much better!

I can't speak for other Aussies but to me anything Aussie or related is collectable. I think there is a general fascination with all things Australian and that is what makes them desirable.

I will be buying both because, apart from the fact Andrew dedicated 'em both to me , they each represent different periods for my diorama. I will now have AeroClassics models to represent each of the periods of Qantas 707 operations to Perth in this order:-

B707-138B V-jet "Australia's Overseas Airline"
B707-338C V-jet "Australia's Overseas Airline"
B707-338C V-jet "Australia"
B707-338C Flying Kangaroo (747 ochre stripe scheme) See my avatar

Too bad they can't get John Travolta's reg # on that V-Jet, that would be an interesting collectible.

It would be the wrong aircraft type though.

This is a model of the standard length -338C.

John Travolta's plane is the exclusive short-fuselage model built for Qantas, the -138B.

AeroClassics have already released a model purporting to be a Qantas -138B "V-jet" (actually a B720) but close enough I guess. This would be closer to John Travolta's machine.

I have four QF 707s already, so two more cannot hurt.

Andrew ... how about making the NASA Convair 990 and their 731? That would be a good twin-pack.

also ... where are the Horizon F.28s?

I saw the Egypt Air, AZ, SIA and Varig A300's as well as the QF and OY 707's and Transaero and AM DC-10's today. They're all gorgeous!
