Default It's that time of month...

Gemini is due to post new releases soon

Anyone wanna guess?

I guess a 757-2winglets in american or United Scheme
I also guess a 73-200, Aloha... that would be just perfect, wouldn't it?
A 737-9 Alaska colors
China Olympics A330-200

I wish, probably won't happen, but...
NWA Dc-9 in new colors- go out with a bang!

I'd like some delivery color schemes:

UA 757
UA A320
US 757
TW 757
NW A320
US A320
DL 757 (nope, GJ has NOT done the delivery scheme--they did the 90's updated widget)

And most of all, TWA 762. (Would like a PW engine mold for it first though)

Talk about disappointed. With the title 'It's that time of the month...', I was expecting to open this thread and read a post detailing how much we need a 1/400 AN225 including a specific number of variants with and without the Buran shuttle and the cost-effectiveness of it all.

Can you post some pics of the DL 757s so I can see the differences because I really can't tell. But I agree we need more delivery schemes! Oh but for this month I think something with winglets is due, hopefully in 1:400 scale.

With the title "It's that time of the month", that was a signal from my wife I wasn't going to get to play, and I don't mean with my models....

Well, to start I will definitely be interested in that ATA DC-10.

As far as guessing goes, I hope the MD-80 will finally come out!! I'll take American, Delta, Continental, Alaska and Aeromexico colors of course!

Other than that:
Continental 737-900ER
Aeromexico 737-800
Air Canada 777-200LR
Emirates A380
British Airways Landor 757

And in the 1:200 scale:
American 757-200W
Alaska 737-800

Fingers Crossed!!

I've heard that GJ is actually on a 5 week release schedule. Either way, it's not really predictable. I get antsy sometimes too, but they'll be here when they're here.

And for the record, I'm hoping for the Continental 757 (1:200) for May. I know it's coming soon... if not May then June, or July at the latest.

I don't collect 1:400, but if they do a CO 737-900ER, I can see myself buying it.

Delivery/factory scheme (how Boeing paints them):

When DL's own people repaint them into their own version of the Widget:

Note that it's N605DL both times, I did that on purpose. The following applies especially to the 757 and 767, but parts of it applies to almost all DL planes in the 80's and 90's (always the nose paint and reg number, often the striping, sometimes wings):

Look at the white paint on the nose. On a delivery paint scheme, it will perfectly parallel the black paint, and maintain its width. On a repaint, it tapers down into nothingness as you go forward.

Look at the registry number. Delivery ones have a thin, italic font. Repaints have a wider, non-italic font.

Look at the striping at the rear (or lack thereof). Delivery planes have the stripes go all the way to the tailcone, tapering a bit aft of the rear door. Repaints have no striping at the rear, it simply stops aft of the rear door and the tailcone is bare metal.

Wings and stabs---delivery planes have them entirely grey. Repaints have corogard on them.

757's and 767's will generally follow the above exactly. Repaint 763's are rare due to their delivery date---their first repaint was generally into interim or wavy gravy. 737's are pretty close to the 757/767---compare the GJ and SMAC 732 models to see a great example---GJ did delivery, SMAC did repaint.

MD-88's follow a similar pattern (nose and reg number), but always retain tailcone striping. They have similar grey/corogard wing issues. (Yes, many DL MD-88's have corogard, notably repaints----among the only MD-80's in the world to have it). Delivery MD-88's also often have pure white stabs, 70's style. (Even MD-90's were delivered with white stabs)

Tristars generally only follow the nose/reg rule.

MD-11's are unique, in that they are backwards--early ones lack the tailcone stripes, they were later added on. They always have the later, tapering white on the nose.

OK my 2 cents worth:

ATA DC10-30
BEA Trident 2E
CAAC Trident 3B
UPS DC8-61 nc
DL MD-88

I guess the top two have been hinted at, the other 3 are speculation on my part.

I never really noticed that, thanks, Do you think they'll produce a 767-200 in the normal widget instead of just the Spirit of Delta?

I've wanted a normal 762 for years---both DW and GJ have only done the Spirit of Delta. Bad enough that one company made a "one-off" but for BOTH to do the exact same plane and not a regular one from the fleet? (And both had the hated "blue gets too light in spots" inconsistency in the stripe printing)

(I'd actually prefer the revised scheme on a widget 762, as that's what I flew on)

Thanks David, I always noticed those variations on that color scheme but never knew it had anything to do with the repaint by Delta.

Interesting to know, in retrospect anyway.

Hey, maybe Delta will do a retro color scheme aside from what they did on the Spirit of Delta.

Lets see, with all those previous schemes over the past 10 years, which one would they choose?

In Vegas on business, and went by Windy Road this morning.

Elliot says May stuff will be posted on Friday or Monday.

Phoenix stuff was in... Mona Lisa 744 did not make it;
everything else expected came in and is on the way out
the door.
