Default Gemini Jets 2008 Club Model ?

Does anyone out there have any information about why the GJ 2008 Club model is so late ?? The question was posed but not answered on the GJ forum. It's been so long ... I forget what the "nominees" were.

I've been wondering about the exact same thing for a while now.

In my visit to GJ/ADI a month ago, Chris told me that Club models didn't come out at any specific date, and that there had been some years which had gone by without a Club model at all.

My theory is that probably the model selected was an L-1011, and that the mould isn't ready yet.

3. Aeromexico (Delivery Colors) DC-10-30
4. House Colors MD-11
5. Turkish (Old Colors) DC-10-30

4 of my favorites are in there including the 737-200.

Well, if our friend here from Houston claims he knows something we don't, then I'll "guess again" and say it is the Continental!

I couldn't remember what the complete list included either. Thanks for digging that out. It would be pointless to do the House Colors MD-11 and Northwest Orient 747, since PHX and AC have already done them now.

My favorite one is (and I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to figure this out) the Aeromexico DC-10!

I'm one of at least 2 or more who posted that question on the GJ member board, and you're right....no answer. As I said in the post, it's gotten quite annoying.

Kind of like how AK sometimes decides just not to answer collectors when they bring up issues about his models on his 400SH forum.

I've always been curious about becoming a member of the GJ forum, but it seams it's not really worth it.

Well, now that they are running a monthly contest, for which the prize is a free model, it MAY be worth it to you. I actually won the January contest, but my problem was that they had VERY little in stock that I wanted, based on my collecting criteria. And the yearly club model may not be anything you want, sooooo.....but as I recall it's only $15, so not a HUGE investment, and it's for life...not a yearly payment or anything.

I joined because they have the Club Model releases, which gives the models some extra value for collecting.

Well, if the Club model turns out to be one I like (Aeromexico, Continental or TWA) I'll probably join; it's also hard to say no to free models.

I just would wish that they would try a little harder to answer the questions from the members. In this case, it is understandable that they don't want to reveal what the Club model will be in advance, but at least they could provide an approximate release date or give an explanation for the delay. I'd say they owe this courtesy to the members who have paid to be there.

I would not mind a membership. I like their models, I wish I could work for them and help them out with specs. I was interested in their Orbis DC-8/DC-10 collection and wanted that at some time.

The Orbis DC-8/DC-10 pair is still listed on the GJ forum site as available ....
I was real interested in the pair when I joined the GJ forum too ... but the wife ... had other ideas ....

PS ... I thought the GJ forum membership ($15) was only good for 2 club models and you had to "re-join" to get further club models .... is this another of my "senior moments" ?

Yes you are correct about getting two club models then you have to renew membership again. I guess it can seem like a "lifetime" membership by the time they put two club models out though.

I am really frustrated with this club as well. I can't believe how long it is taking to pick one and announce it. Yes, the membership is for two years. I really don't see much of a benefit of joining unless you have to have the club model that is released. That was what I did for the CP Air DC10 and World DC10.

AFAIK, Phoenix has yet to do a true House Colors MD-11. They've done N111MD and N311MD, but the only MD-11 that ever was fully painted up in MDC colors was N211MD.

Yeah David, I actually did think about that, but I would still say it would be unlikely for GJ to select this as the Club model because the production of the other two has decreased the demand for it. Still it would be a great model, and I hope it gets made soon.

BTW, and this question comes from someone for whom English is his second language, what does AFAIK stand for? I've figured out BTW, FYI, WTF and others, but I can't seam to come up with a logical set of words for AFAIK.

L1011 new mould should be nice, GJ should create forum to vote.

A second to the North Central, "Blue Goose" in 400-scale!
