Beautiful and excellent. Now, if they could just make one in 737-200 mould that would be awesome

Nice, but sad.

Nice to see an Aloha release, but a shame given they will probably be gone soon.

Aloha will make it, even though go! took a lot of their buisness, they will still make it through. Prices are already going up on inter-island fares.

I never liked how the SMAC model had that dumb all-gray radome...blah. However, if a normal-looking Aloha 737-200 was released, I'd definitely get one!

I wish they would make one as well. But I still love the SMAC N808AL as it captures how the plane looked when it was flying ETOPS to the Marshall Islands. Often a 737 would have an unpainted nose cone installed to quickly replace one broken by bird strikes or other causes. It gives the plane character.

In the case if Aloha is gone, but the Aloha Cargo will still flying, coz cargo still make good profit and I believe Young Brothers tug and barge will take over Aloha Cargo.

Amen to that.

This'll be the first Aloha model in my collection.
Hopefully they find another source of financing. Unfortunately they have to do it SOON, and the industry environment isn't friendly between go! and $100+ bb oil, it's a tight squeeze.

I do hope they survive.

Quite appropriate timing for a model, though. And it looks good!

Nice model! I wish they would have just stuck to inter island flights then flying these to the mainland. I think that started them on this path as a company. Mesa just spead it up! Will be sad to see the name go if it does but hopefully someone will save the company from losing its name its presence on the islands.

Actually, the mainland flights are profitable for Aloha. The interisland operation is obviously not. Having diversified and started up the mainland ops has helped keep the company from bleeding even more money. In fact, the mainland operation, the cargo operation, and the contract service stuff is all profitable. The interisland passenger flights are what is killing Aloha.

Well that is news to me. Someone said differently on a thread on another forum. Good to see this point! Well Alaska has now followed Aloha on this with their service to the islands. Even Mid Pacific Air folded years ago their. Probably under similar reasons. Thanks for the info!

I wonder if the answer is in, ironically, another release this month. If they don't survive and if the mainland service is profitable, I wonder if we could see Alaska Airlines move into some of the satellite airport to Hawaii markets at some point in the future. Kona and Maui are suspiciously missing from the Alaska Airlines route map.

I'm currently at work over at Dispatch here at Aloha...the CEO, David Banmiller, just announced that Aloha will be ceasing all passenger operations effective tomorrow, March 31, 2008. Cargo and contract service operations will continue to run for the time being. This is extremely sad. I'm a newbie over here having only been hired in January 2008, but some of my coworkers have been with the company for 10, 20, 35 years. It's incredibly saddening. And this was a great job over here....I loved it, despite how brief it was.

Anyway, this release will be a nice little keepsake model. I'll definitely buy one...maybe even a bunch to recreate the current ETOPS fleet. Hmm...I wonder if Greg at Draw Decal can do a Wyland decal set...

It's 4:20 pm Pacific Time and the news is just breaking across the mainland about the demise of Aloha. I hate to see it go.

I hope the company will retain you, perhaps reassign you.

Thanks. I wish things could continue on as they are, but I don't think any of us assistant dispatchers will be retained at all. There simply won't be the need for us. They will keep a few dispatchers to handle the cargo flights though. Looks like I have to try and go back to Island Air....ugh.

Really sad to see the aloha namesake and operations go. They could have survived by cutting down on their half-full interisland operations. If ony go! hadn't come along... We would still have the opportunity to fly those beautiful 737-200 interisland. Hopefully, they will resume mainland operations, as there could be more competition and seats. Their "birds of paradise" will be missed, but they could have avoided catastrophe by cutting back on their opertations and frequency. Poor aloha...
