I thought that was what went into Labatts 50...BTW, I've tried the national dishes of every country I've ever visited, and some of them left a lasting and awful impression. You Aussies have my respect for living in a country where almost every damn critter there wants to kill you. You have more poisonous animals (sh*t, even the platypus is venomous!) than anywhere else, Great Whites float off your coasts, and what isn't poisonous will tear you up. So yeah, you blokes get my hat off to ya. Now go eat your Vegimite and kick some arse

Even our flies in the bush get so thick that they will pick ya up off the ground. True! Ask any Aussie what all the little brown dots are on the ceiling and watch em laugh.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else. It's the Great Southern Land and I'm proud to be Australianian.

I didn´t know about the french aviator and I really thought the brazilian Santos Dumont was the first to fly. The aviator was living in Paris when he started to built his machines. Anyway I am glad one american recognize that the Wright´s flight was a CTIT (controlled flight into terrain).

And just as a side note:I prefer playing tennis insted of soccer. AS I am posting here I am watching Federer x Sampras match! Fantastic.

All this talk of WMD's, Vegimite hand grenades, illegal aliens, and cricket tours has forced the American's to Upgrade their alert status to DEFCON 1, NATO to convene, and the Australian's to increase the production of Vegimite for an all out war! God help us ALL!! Life as we know it is going to end!!!! AGGHHHHH!!!

Oh and Karun83 be very careful re your cricket comments mate, India isn't exactly a winner in my book, racism has no place in the game!

Santos Dumont developed a flying prototype after the Wrights had flown, so even though the Flyer was barely controlled and had a very short flight, it's still recognized as a flight. Santos Dumont had a better-controlled plane, and was the first in Europe to fly, and since he was Brazilian, of course you'd say he was #1. There are a lot of contenders for the title "First Flight", but history still insists it was the Wright Brothers who made the most important first steps in aviation. Santos Dumont's contributions are also extremely significant, so don't think I'm dissing him...he just ain't "The One". BTW, Brazil's most important contributions to the world have been in soccer/futeball, and Formula One racing, IMO

You forgot to mention the snapping handbags that reside in the northern parts of Australia. Not only do they tear you up into bite-sized chunks, the like to store bits of you under a rock in a river somewhere in case they get hungry later.

In relation to the Great Whites, here in South Australia seems to be the place where they like to congregate. I always find it interesting when a surfer gets taken by a shark and someone invariably says 'well, at least they died doing what they loved' ...what! getting eaten by a shark?

And the worst brazilian contribution to the world is our current president. The most corrupt president we´ve ever seen in the brazilian history since our discovery by the portuguese (also were corrupts-I have just bought an interesting book about the portuguese "royal family" that started the brazilian colonization).

Back to the topic: there is an interesting book named Wings of madness: Alberto Santos-Dumont and the invention of flight. The author is an american (Paul Hoffman) that wrote Santos Dumont biography since he was a kid in the Brazil. Very interesting. There the author explains How the brazilian aviator built step by step most of his flying devices. And also he admit he was the first to fly despite the fact the author is from US.

I also kow that at that time comunication was a problem and maybe until some news arrive in the other part of the world other could be doing the same at another place and we will never know who was the first one.

Actually the first to fly was a chilean miner guy that was tired of going down hill from the mine to buy provisions in a little town called Caldera in northern Chile. He said that he got the idea from his son who said I wish we could fly like a vulture.

His prototype plane was named Condor Cagando eu numero do Uno Agora.

Tim(QFA388), I think the threat of vegimite has scared everyone off!

If ya ever make it to Ontario,Kanada, let me know. I'll buy ya couple rounds of Labatt's 50. Really, it's awesome beer!(if you like your beer on the chewy side)

p.s the meat pie in a sea of pea soup with tomato sauce, that actually sounds good!. I bet that would go great with hot sauce and jalapenos!
