I'm hoping that's just a sample---we all know UAL grey is a medium-dark grey, not pale. It looks like they used "BAe grey" for the wings AND fuselage, which is totally wrong. It'd be like painting a UA o/c 777 with Boeing grey on the fuselage. It should be pale/BAe grey on the wings like every other 146 out there, but (obviously) UAL grey on the fuselage. See here, the contrast between the pale grey wings and the darker grey fuselage is very obvious:
As is, the model looks almost like the "ghost of UAL" with how pale it is. The wing part of the mold actually needs 2 different greys applied to it----1 color for the wings themselves, then UAL grey in the center/top. I *really* hope this comes out right in the final production version, as a grey/blue 146 is my most-wanted 146 of all. ::edit:: OK, here's my quick attempt to show how it SHOULD look: ![]()

I'd wait...we used to take pictures of the models in the high noon sun...I'm guessing it's a washed out pic.

No amount of washing-out explains the lack of 2 different colors. The fuselage should be much darker than the wings, regardless of how the model is lit.

The model does look washed out to me also.
But, I can see two different values of grey on the wing. Great release nonetheless and I will be getting one. Steven De Lisser |

A sample pic...maybe the final release will be correct. If it is, this is another for my list (damn, this is getting out of hand!)

I was hoping we'd see this one from GJ! Now I just hope they get the gray right for the production run...

Finally, a regular colors BAE for United. I wish they had the 300 version

Yes, there were some UA planes in a lighter gray as the 727 photo shows. I think there was one Bae 146 like this, but it wasn't the norm.

I'm unaware of a 146 (or any express plane) like that, just a 727 (maybe 2) and a DC-10.
And even those still didn't match their own wings.

OK I'm looking into the future... I predict we will have at least 5 more of these from Jet-X very soon.
It seems after Gemini Jets makes something Jet-X makes one or many soon after. |

I definitely prefer the GJ mold, but I'd love to have a 146-100 and 146-300 in these United Express colors....so if Jet-X wants to do them, I'd gladly pick them up!

It looks like the model is washed out and making it look like it is a combination of the 1990 livery and the current livery

So, anyone actually have this yet and can comment on the color, or post a photo?

Well that is VERY good news---the final release looks fine. (This release is important to me, as UA Ex grey/blue is the only 146 I've ever flown on)

I just got the model, and the colors are perfect. The original photo was clearly of a sample model.

Hey at least you have flown on one. I was so close in Colorado a couple years back but the flight was canceled and the next flight was on a CRJ 200. |
