WOW !!!!!
This is the most fantastic open store I have ever seen! I would stay an entire day there and leave the store without a single cent in my wallet.

Awsome Store. Amazing Diorama! Beats Our Two Showrooms. Aviation World Does However Have A Similar Flight Simulator.
Threshold Has An Actual B-727 Flight Simulator. You Can Train For A Pilot's License There. Their Showroom Is Not Quite As Big As This, And Not Quite As Many Large Scale Models, But Their 400 Scale Is Prolly More Impressive. |

Late last year I visited my Aunt and Uncle in Hoofddorp, which is less than 5km from this shop.
Unfortunately, I didn't know this shop existed. Now, I am back home and 16,606km from the shop*. *According to Google Earth

I live just on the other side of the water in the UK and 10 minutes away from the ferry to Holland. Hmmm, the wife kept talking about going to Amsterdam for the weekend, I might have to take her up on the offer! |

How far from the airport is this shop please? Any info on buses if they go there from the terminals? I think I will be getting myself a KLM ticket from Heathrow to AMS for a day trip and a look round this place.

Take the bus No.196 (or 198? sorry I can not remember) from Schipol. Get off on "Aalmeers Bridge" shelter. It cost about EUR 2.0 - if my memory serves well.

The furthest flight I have done is 315 kilometers, but in the shape of a triangle using 2 turnpoints and landing back at the same airfield I took off from. This was for a part of my FAI Gold badge. Next I need to do a flight in excess of 500 kilometers, again using 2 turn points. I haven't managed to get a day where the weather is suitable and I'm off work or not doing family "things" this year. The day when the weather was good enough for a 500, I had promised to take the family to the zoo. Unfortunately for me, the zoo we went to is right next to Dunstable gliding club near Luton airport, so I was able to watch all the expensive high performance gliders soaring away and setting off on cross country flights while I was dragged around looking at Penguins and sea Lions. ![]() The record distance for a glider is over 3000 kilometers ( yes I did say three thousand ) using multiple turnpoints and mountain wave lift in the South America Andes mountain range, set by a German called Claus Uhlmann ( I think thats the right spelling ) in a two seater Schempp-Hirth Nimbus 4 ( another excellent german glider manufacturer ). Sorry to hijack this thread and go completely off topic, hope it is of some interest. ![]() Last edited by GliderPilot; 09-23-2007 at 03:29 PM. Reason: spelling.....again |
