Default Aeroflot TU144S

Here is CCCP-77102 the first production aircraft delivered to AFL. Maiden flight was 3/20/1972. The aircraft crashed June 3, 1973 during an exhibition flight at the Paris Air Show due to separation of the left wing. The crew was trying to recover after a steep dive when the aircraft broke apart.
This is the Academy 1/360 model with extensive modifications. One error was not making the nose wheel long enough and the other thing I wasn't satisfied with was leaving the cabin windows white. I originally painted a dark gray line down the side, but I couldn't get it to line up correctly, after several tries I just sanded it off and applied the decals. Hope you enjoy the final results because building and customizing in this scale is not something I will intentionally try to do again.
Here is some interesting info on this aircraft and the crash be sure you scroll down to the footnote:: TUPOLEV TU-144 : The other SST
Apologies for the knocked over stair, just noticed it.

Awesome photos Steve! If anyone has the opportunity to go see the Tu-144 at the Technik Museum Sinsheim in Sinsheim, Germany I highly recommend it! The AF Concorde is there too.

Steve,

You did awesome job on Academy kit, i was thinking of doing the same also but it never surfaced on my building table. I would still go with charcoal gray windows instead on white. Your scaffolding photoetch is just great detail addition to diorama.

As always, a really wonderful display, Steve. Very impressed with your attention to detail. I'd just blame the stairway incident on clumsy groundcrew...
