The price increase does only seem to be airline specific to the qantas and jal , thats why i related the price increase to only the special scheme qantas and jal, why is it too expensive because phoenix are usually around $32.00 but a few bucks higher on the jal and about 28% up on the qantas ....

The price for a Qantas is higher but not only for Phoenix. Do you recall the recent Herpa Wings 737 Qantas that retailed for around $40.00? They sold out quickly at that price. Look at the artwork on that model! Look at the artwork on the 747! Now we have a much larger model than the 737 that will sell for roughly the same money as the 737 did. I think that Phoenix is right in line.

The new JAL 747-400F chrome corporate, arriving this week at Peewee Field, will retail for $37.77 including shipping in my Aero-Pacific online store. This is 10% higher than the recent 747 LCF which is selling like hotcakes at that price. The wholesale price for this DW JAL 747-400F is within pennies of what the wholesale price for an AC or a BBX 747 is currently.

Granted, this is the most expensive DW 747 but then again this is a fully licensed model. Licensed both by Boeing and by JAL. It's a "corporate" model. It has to be. The model is chrome. Sometimes a model comes around that was designed for the bigballers collection, or pay grade. We just need to man up and treat ourselves to this kind of stuff from time to time. The quality is certainly there.

Absolutely agree.

I'm keeping my C&C version of Wanula II (pic attached) which is based on the DW mould and is very good compared to the PH.
Not all questionable models" should be criticised. Orange colour fading on the C&C is more accurate than DW.
And better value for money. Their box are is nice too.

I think this is a weird hobby. You have too many licenses, the model price goes up. If you don't have enough licenses, like the EVA Pink Hello Kitty, price also goes up. If you just have enough license, the model stays on the retailers' shelves.

Why care about that at all if you're an "unlicensed collector"?
