It's coming, believe it, no joke, Evidently it has the widget back, but in red on a navy blue tail. That is the current rumor, anyway.

Re: Delta New Livery
The new DL stinks, from what I did see on airliners.net
But what's this that UAL is FINALLY gonna do a retro jet??? MORE than one???? What's the details? Anyone know? I've been hoping for YEARS that they'd do this, along with a lot of other people I'm sure!!!

Re: Delta New Livery
One 777 gets the "stars and bars" look, one 747-400 goes back to the 80's
"Saul Bass" scheme of orange stripes and one 767 will retain the previous 90's dark stealth look...

Re: Delta New Livery
And if anyone on this forum would know such thing for certain it would be Russell.
So I guess this means Gemini has already been approached and has a 767-300 in the new colours since they have a license (to ill in this case).

what the crap is that. how many times are they going to change their livery? it looks so unglamorous and doesnt have the feel of delta anymore. even the current "flag" has a better feel.

C'mon DL! Decide on a livery and stick to it! Widget, interim livery, Deltaflot, "new" Widget...what's next?

Re: Delta New Livery
I guess Delta is following the same oversized tail logo pattern as United and Air India. Between the three airlines, United has a more acceptable, more recognizable graphic. Anything is better than Stephen Wolf's depressing "Battleship" colors for United and "Union/Confederate" treatment for US Airways.
I mean, this cat used an ugly stick to beat the crap out of those '90s schemes! Only Nick Nolte is uglier.

Re: Delta New Livery
First it was euro-white crap and now its US-white crap.
I think the Air India looks ok and the United scheme aint to bad, but for both airlines their previous schemes were better.
I quite like Delta's current scheme, but this new rendition is appalling. Such a shame.
I like airlines that keep their liveries for years like Qantas for instance. OK, it may be very white, but its also very distinctive. However, I think its about time Air France displayed a nice new one. Maybe they will when their A380s arrive, who knows?

I like this tail better than the one with the widget on its side...the fuselage paint is similar to British Landor. I like the wavy gravy...I vote stay with that for now.

Re: Delta New Livery
Nooooooooo!!!! Delta has now succeeded in making one of the ugliest liveries currently fielded. Just another piece of evidence that creativity is dead. BTW, I'd prefer Nick Nolte's shirt as livery, and Nolte himself as my pilot on a Delta flight. Wouldn't that be an interesting trip?

Uhh... Maybe Delta should just give up on livery changes. While the widget is nice, the overall livery gets worse and worse each time. Their branding team is on a major decline.

I agree that his shirt design should be used for the next livery. It lends a relaxed kinda feel that Delta has always wanted to project. And with Nolte flying an airplane like he drives his Cadillac convertible in "48 Hours", we had better include a co-pilot. How about Lisa Marie Nowak. Her diaper driving skills will definitely land her in the right seat.

Yeah, maybe so. But, whether these new pictures came from Delta or some wannbe online designer, I can only think of one thing regarding their talents:

This is the 1:400 forum, this topic belongs in the 1:1 fourm.
Besides, this is only speculation on the new livery. Nothing official has been released from Delta.

I like it! Probaply willnot look too good in the dark but in sunligt it will do. Looks better than Deltaflot, almost European, which would be good for the international customers. Now have soe friendly staff, comfortable seats, clean planes, Inflight Entertainmnt worth watching and really good food and you get an airline worth flying at every price. I say this because I am tired of getting worn out seats, dirty airplanes with fast food containers under the seats, delays based on lack of availabl aircraft due to overscheduling- ahhhh oops I meant weather, of course, no food or really really cheap food nd staff that is underpaid, undertrained, unappreciated and takes this out on the passenger. I am of course speaking of Unitednorthwestdeltacontinentalusairwaysbranifftwa panameastern Airlines. And if you think that I am nuts and that we set the standards in this country fly Britishaustrianlaudaluftansaairfrancebmisingaporee miratesetihadqatarqantaskoreanasianajalanaswiss Airlines to see and feel the difference. Sorry, just my two cents worth- and that is sometimes the only difference in price between these carriers and ours, ours reffering to the country with the red white and.....you get the idea.
So anyway I like the livery and hope it returns to days when Delta set new standards accross the Atlantic, i.e. 1980

Re: Delta New Livery
I had heard from a friend who works at Delta that years ago that the original reason they changed from the original widget was a money decision. Delta at the time was one of the best financed airlines and actually had a top heavy value in terms of assets. They hired a new CEO to basically spend money, make them less attractive to potential take over for liquidation of assets. One of those ways was to spend money on a new look with a new livery at the time.
Since then, seems Delta has lost its direction in so many ways. I would suggest one fo the tihings they do is go back to their roots. They need to figure out who they are, not what they can make themselves to be. Once that foundation is there, ohter issues should become a bit clearer as well.
Just my thought on the matter and liveries, thats all I have to say about that.

Aww, Tupi, now that you don't have AK to pick on, you've chosen Heavy? Ok, he gets kind of pompous and know-it-all, done-it-all, but I still think he's got a lot to contribute, and I value some of his opinions, as I do some of yours. But you're going to start something with Heavy and grind this forum down again with sniping. Then it'll suck again.

Re: Delta New Livery
WHEN JOHNNY JOHNSON BECOME DELTA CEO AND THE FIRST THING I WILL DO. AN ORDER TO RETURN BACK TO WIDGET! YOU HAVE MY WORD! Unfortunately that is not going to happen.
My thoughts on pending new livery? It SUCKS! But at least widget symbol is back at difficult seeing level.... for those who have bad eyes.
Hey what is that plain-looking airplane with whole blue tail?
Should we start looking for an elderly lady who sang "Where is the beef? and hire her to sing "Where is the Ol' Glory Classic Delta Widget?"

Re: Delta New Livery
While We Are At This Issue, As Someone Mentioned About The Possibilities That United 777, 744, 767, And 320 Wearing Retro Livery....
Care To Input My Suggestion For Anyone Who Have Influence With Delta To Convenice Ceo To Do One Or Two Of New 777lr Wearing Widget? Also When One Of 767-400 Undergo Extensive Paint Change And Paint Widget On One Of Them. Showing Off Old Ole Glory Classic Of Delta's Livery. That Will Make Millions Of Passengers So Fortunately To Jog Their Memory By Seeing That Famous Livery.
This Would Be Damnest To Have An 767-400 And 777 Widget Into Our Collection Regardless Fantasy Or Real!
Thank You!

Do not worry... Relax... I think that thread starter is peeing-n-flooding his hometown as he is real exciting with such news!
He is like me as we love Delta! Maybe he really love that livery? Maybe he feel huge rewarding as Delta chose his new livery design? Who knows? I heard that Dr. Sentinel Chicken is investigating and trying to find out who design that.... Sounds like he is upset that he did not win?
Of course this will become 1/400 scale one day.

I really like Heavy. He is very knowledgeable about aircraft and models. I enjoy his many constructive contributions to the hobby. I'm going to be spending a lot of time for my business in Toronto this year, and I'm looking forward to buying a drink for him.
Unfortunatly as you said, he can be a little pompus and annal retentive in his comments. I was just hoping that was a picture of him pulling that bug he has out of his a**, so that he can lossen up a bit.
Come on, it's just a hobby about toy planes for christ sake!

You're right about that. Too bad that for some people, that's all their life is about, it seems...getting defensive and surly over stupid things. Not naming any names, y'know (and no, I don't mean you, Tupi...you're hilarious most of the time).

I'm just hoping they put the widget right-side up.
