The more I look at it, the more I like my QF A380 from GJ.

I bought the HE Air France 380 before I got my hands on the DW.
Sold it the next day. Buttttt ugly mould and very basic u/c.
Herpa can do better and should.

I have this and really like it although I've noticed that the wings are slightly thicker on this as compared to DW's Emirates and Qatar versions.

The landing gear doesn't look good also.

Very nice photos! Is your background Brisbane International Airport?

Thanks! Yup, it's Brisbane International Airport. Kind of suitable background for Qantas photos .

Herpa's A380 isn't bad at all - except the landing gear. With regard to this Gemini really raised the standard with their oustanding new gear. Mouldwise, the Herpa one comes very close to the GJ one and IMO is as good as the DW version. There are some minor issue such as the part of the nose below the cockpit windows is too flat and the engines are slightly too short. Further the pylons are not 100% correct. Apart from that, the mould is well done.

Once You See The DW Etihad In Hand, You'll Send That Herpa Off On E-Bay. The Finish On The DW Is EXQUISITE! It's Like Owning Valueable Jewelery. Near ZERO Disco Glitter & The Irridescent (Known As Pearalescent Here On The Forums) Is Captured Accurately like No Other Model In Die Cast History.
I Seriously Doubt Any Other Manufacturer Can Duplicate It.

I have no chance to see that DW Etihad in person. Did DW improve landing gear and cockpit for that A380?

No They Did Not! But The Model Is So Exquisite, You Will Not Notice The Off Cockpit & You Will Ignore The Landing Gear.
The Finish Is Like No Other In Die Cast ANY Scale! If You Thought The Finish On DW's Etihad 777 Was Amazing, This Is Even Better!

It would be nice if you post some pictures of DW Etihad in this forum. I did always enjoy your and other members' photos!

Unfortunately I Don't Own The DW Etihad 380 Yet. Despite The Fact I Appear To Be Rich With My Vast Collection. I CAN'T Buy Everthing. The Day I Gave It The Once Over I just Bought 10 Retro Models. I Have To Prioritize.
I Went Home With A "Heavy Heart" That Day. But I Will Certainly Pick One Up Eventually.
I Do Own The DW Ethad 777 With The Same Finish, But My Pics Didn't Do Justice To the Finish, So I Didn't Bother Posting Them. Basically Direct Sunlight Is Not Good Llighting If You Want To Capture The Irredescence Correctly.

You bought 10 retro models, why not got only once more the one you really like? Yes, I can see that you are the rich collector by 2 meanings. Therefore, that "heavy heart" seems suitable for you, L-1011-Heavy.

P/S: I do like to see your and other collections, doesn't matter how the pictures are.

The complete DW range of Etihad a/c are very good.
L-1011 is right about the colour. I have the 380 and the pearlescent is excellent. actually changes colour in different lighting like the real a/c. How DW did this is a great secret but HE are not there with colour matching.
Go for the DW Etihad's

Problem Is Those retros Are ones a REALLY Liked Too. Problem Is I COULD Go Home With 50 Models I REALLY Like, But Have A Limited Budget. Basically It Was A Hobby Show. I Picked Up A Lot Of Rare Hard To Find Models (At BARGAINS I Might Add, The Tanzania 707 For $20.00 CAD & The Auroura United 737 For Half The Retail Price)
I Also Bought The New VC-10s & Qantas 747s.
Basically The Etihad was A New Release & I Decided I Can Get It Another Time As Plenty Are Made.

Not Only Is The Irredescence Correct, Bit More Importantly There's No Disco Glitter. Herpa's Glitter Is Like 80 Grit Sand Paper.
DW's Is MICROFINE Like 400 Grit Carburundum Paper.
