Hi all.
Having seen the new release of the Gemini Aces models this week, I am interested to hear what other collectors think as to which brand they personally prefer. Me, I am actually leaning towards the Aces, Gemini have done a really good job and paid alot of attention to detail. Many thanks Welcome to Replica Miniatures - The UK static model aviation supply specialist that delivers worldwide Last edited by Replica_Miniatures; 10-20-2006 at 04:59 PM. I hate them cause I hate the scale (1:72). GJ should have introduced this line in the 200 scale (like Herpa has done). So I refuse to even look at them.

I wasn't aware there was a large demand for 1:200 scale warbirds...

The scales for military does not generally seem to be the 1/50, 1/100, 1/200 or 1/400 as with most major brands but seem to be in the 1/72, 1/48 & 1/24.
With the exception of Gemini Macs of course. We also stock the large mahogany models in military and those are not in the same standard scales above. Does anyone have any idea as to why? ![]() |

Actually, in the last two years there have been a significant number of military fighters (from WWII to modern) in the 1:144 scale. These are sold mainly in Japan and are made of plastic. They sell for a few dollars and can be found on e-bay searching for Takara, F-toys, Bandai + 144. Although they are toys, they are pre-painted, easy to assemble, and fairly accurate. In my opinion, this scale is a good scale for collecting and displaying a large number of models. WWII fighters are the scale of B737 in 1:400 and moder fighters like F-14 are the size of a B-777 in 1:400. Corgi makes a few die-cast bombers in this scale. Moreover, a lot of plastic kits for those that have the time and ability to put them together are available.
The 1:200 scale works only for modern fighter. WWII fighters would be way too small in this scale. What I don't understand is why anyone would pay more for a Herpa F-14 1:200 than a Dragon Wings F-14 1:72. I believe the price for the 1:200 Herpa fighter should be below $20 to be consistent with the prices of similar models in the 1:400 scale. |
