Pardon my ignorance but I´ve never heard of 5 stars models.

I also would like to know my folks comments about this release.

Orginally 5 Stars was the succesor of Starjets and used to produce 1:500 scale models, but as of lately, they also do some 1:400 releases. The problem with those release is, that you're never know for certain what manufacturer it is until you've seen the model yourself or at least the box. As far as I can tell does this model uses the Blue Box 742 mould...

This model is on my "must have" list, but I will NOT buy anything released on Blue Box (or CC) models.

What a shame, now none of the others probably won't release this model.

AK, will you please come to our rescue?

Yes Harald, I will!

The problem with the EuroClassics series, is that the back of the box portrays what's in the pipeline. It was safe for the 727s as nobody else would copy it, but a tactical error with the 747, as BluNutz/C&C I predict will be pumping out everything European asap.

None-the-less, I hereby announce that the EuroClassics SAS B.747-200c is in the pipeline, and will be released soon!! Details in a different thread!

Super Andrew. Look forward to the -200c. What about the ...-.. ? While at it, I support Harald's need for Braathens 767-200. Braathens did operate a few types you should be able to assist us with: DC-6, F-27, B737-200/400/500.

at a higher price than Blue Box? - or is the idea to loss lead just to prove a point?

Apart from the usual "I won't buy it even though I want it because the herd say not to" characters - I would suggest that this will sell out as it appears do most Blue Box - there's an old saying about sticking to the knitting - Aeroclassic are really good at "classical issues" so stay doing them - there's even competition building between GJ and AC now all because of this determination to prove a point - and getting nowhere.

Hateful enough Todd?

Hugo, again, I refuse to back off of the use of MY 747 mould because certain pirates/bandits in HKG are out to make a quick buck of unsuspecting collectors. I PROMISE you that there will be SAS 747s in the near future, and alot better than the crap they are offering; cheaper too!

If you would rather buy their crap, nobody is stopping you!! Just don't keep whining about me copying them, because I am not! I had the SAS logo on my 747 box 6 months ago, so this is typical of the "money grab" to push something inferior out first, when they know what I've got planned!

AK I have never accused you of copying anybody - and have no belief that you have so done - what I was talking about was duplication of liveries - I have never suggested that your mould or the old 1:400 BB mould were inferior, what I have said is the Blue Box are continuously improving theirs, some of the earlier 1:400s were not good and as far as I am aware no-one has said any different, but they are getting better and they are selling well - just concentrate on what you are good at and let others make decisions on what they will or will not want to buy - it is not for you or your little coterie to demand others only buy your stuff. And since when were you cheaper? and compared to whom? Facts and figures please not raw bile all the time.

The maker of the BluNutz/C&C SAS 74F is offering them at HKD295 plus shipping from HKG (retail price) That's $38 plus shipping. My SAS 747s will retail for aprox $5 less.
Those are your facts and figures.

(UK import duties & VAT) are not included in the above figures, and would have to be added to both models. Still cheaper! Raw bile is usually what my critics spill; sorry!

The Blue Box have been slow to catch on here in the UK but Aero C. sales have declined over time from all reports. The Blue Box Air Transat Tristar has just appeared and, holding one in my hands, can say it is excellent. They have, I am told, many new molds coming out one of which shall delight we English. It seems as though the SAS/Iberia/Qantas 747s announced under the name 5-Star may well be the old BigBird mold. The only problem with their first 747 (Garuda oc) was the blister packing, which I believe has been solved. Several smaller brand names shall start using it, or an identical knock off, as it has become available. Trade prices (you call it wholesale in America) for Blue Box are similar to AC 747s. The bottom line is we collectors buy what we fancy and don't really need to be badgered by other manufacturers posting in self interest. I rather think a lot of collectors don't care about the history/politics involved and should welcome competition. Isn't that the basis of America's success in business?

You have no idea what you're talking about, it is NOT the old BigBird mould as Andrew owns that mould!

Those 5-Star/BlueBalls/C&C are horrible......

Plus, the only reason they are releasing them is because those were the upcoming Aeroclassics/EuroClassics releases shown on the back of the last AC/EC release........so.....buy the junk now or wait a month or two for the real thing that was announced 6 months ago.....your choice!

Sorry Mr. Arctic, the SAS/Iberia/Qantas are NOT off the old Big Bird mould, because that is now my mould, and I produce off that quality mould. 5-star is using a repackaged BluNutz/C&C mould, the most inferior in the hobby, hands down!

The Bae-146 BluNutz will shortly introduce to the delight of most Brits will be preceeded/followed (timing is critical) of another more superior Bae-146, as well as other British airframes, so they bring nothing new to the hobby!

If AeroClassics sales in the UK are declining, it's because more Brits are purchasing from abroad, as we are supplying less and less to UK based dealers, mostly due to their inability to pay invoices on a timely manner.

I don't think that this is the Bigbird mould. That is for sure! You're right saying the Tristar is getting better and it is doing very well in the UK with the RAF version out selling every other brand in that month as a single type of model. I wish other brands would do that well. Some others BBX types don't do so well. The B747 of Bluebox is one and that is fact. The newer BB2 (or call it what you like) B747-400 will do better when they do a model of interest and get the colours correct as this is near on identical to the 1:400 bigbird version. If they have copied the old Bigbird B747-200 mould then that is to be seen.

People will still want the Bigbird version in any form like those done by Aeroclassics but a collector will still buy what he wants and not what others don't want him to buy. Many still don't know these sites exist so the rants on here will never affect the sales of these models here. Most seem to forget these sites are geared more for the USA! Boy, I still send out loads of monthly lists to people who still don't have a computer!

As for new moulds, Could the first A300-600 Fedex be one?

do try and say something sensible - as usual you are embroidering the saying of Chairman AK - be nice if you could produce an individual statement of your own - too much to hope for of course because you simply rehash old and discredited statement of opinion as fact - sad sad sad

As you seem to know what Blue Box are going to produce perhaps you could tell us the liveries!

I would suggest the Aeroclassics sales are declining in the UK because you are producing too few "interesting liveries" - the last of yours was the BOAC (and very nice too) - assume that when the Super VC.10 appears and perhaps the Comet your sales will rocket - though by the sounds of it there won't be any UK dealers stocking it - again bad marketing practice.

Hugo, what exactly is your problem? A fact has been stated by 2 people as to the ownership of a specific mould; why is that open for debate? Why is it sad sad sad?

If some of you would just read the facts, accept them as facts (or challenge them with facts, not unproven innuendo) and move on without all the endless ranting like old ladies, then these boards would me more interesting to read!

I guess it is a bad marketing practice to not sell to companies who don't know how to pay their invoices in a timely manner! If I subscribed to that thought, I'd have gone into bankruptcy long ago; perhaps that is your hope though!
