Get yourself the model, but PLEASE, don't get yourself a ticket. Don't support Johny O and his MAG at undercutting respectable airlines who treat their employees with some dignity and respect.

How is Johny O going to compete in this market with an aircraft that has a higher cost per seat mile than Aloha, Island Air, and Hawaiian? Simple, he is going to do it by paying and treating his employees like crap! He will hire 300 hour FOs who will do anything for a job (including paying $60,000 + to the Mesa Pilot Development Program for their training) and pair them with a 1500 hour Captain who regrets going to mesa every day they wake up. Thankfully the weather in Hawaii is so nice, they won't have as much opportunity to get themselves into trouble.

Please People - Don't support this airline!

Actually, weather can and frequently does turn crappy when you least expect it bringing up squall lines, fog banks, clouds right down to the deck. Hawaii has a rather large number of aircraft, "incidents" almost everyone due to pilot error and inexperience.

Like Mid Pacific and Mahalo, Mesa thinks they will grab hawaiian residents business and that is part of the market that should know better. It is also the part of the market that will have fast sea ferry transport in two years between the major islands allowing them to take their own cars saving a bundle on rentals and all the island airlines are going to get hit by this.

And I would LOVE to see an original green Mesa CRJ! It's one of my most wanted CRJs

But I still don't like JohnyO and what he is doing to the industry.

Think about what you are getting yourself into.......

I have not found an image I can grab yet. A quick trip to www.iflygo.com will reveal a rendering of the CRJ in flash presentation.
See what I mean?

Any new carrier from outside the island I don't think they will last, past records speak for it self
Support your local carrier Hawaiian, Aloha & Island Air

I’m not suggesting that Gemini introduce a 1:400 CEO product line. That’s not what I am interested in. (Someone else can collect the little pricks.) I would, however, like to see the new go! paint on their CRJ mold.

It might be a rare bird. Who knows how long it will last? The airline scene will change. Hawaiian is out of bankruptcy and dropped a bundle of cash last year while doing it. Aloha is fresh out of bankruptcy, and will be parking a half dozen in the desert by summer (replaced by newer 737s). Island Air is under new management and they have some new Q400s to feed. Hawaiian Superferry will be the fifth major interisland carrier (flying at Angels 0) in early 2007. Mesa has $300M in cash to carry it through the tax losses they will gladly shift to Hawaii. Who would you bet on?

My loyalty definitely remains with Aloha & Hawaiian. However, I still wouldn't mind GJ making a go! for my collection, that's probably as close as I will be to that airline!

Thank you for posting such an intelligent post! I too support every word you said and think Ornstien is classified in the same realm as Lorenzo. This felon's(he is a felon by the way(embezzlement), do a search) day is coming and he will have the same headaches and banishment as Lorenzo. This is MY industry and I refuse to support such a filthy businessman, or his product! Well said Frontierflyer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
