For those collectors who may feel they may never see the Big Bird moulds used again, I say don't despair and offer this quote from the Borg:
"Lower your shields and surrender your vessel. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile." |

Well, I will certainly miss them.
After all, and despite the flaws noted by others, it was Big Bird that finally supplied the TWA Twin-stripe 747s and 763s, as well as the Zoom 763. I have no complaints against Kermit... ...except for one. If he's out of the biz, who will eventually make the LOT 763 I am still wishing for??? ![]()

Tis true.. Bigbird as we all know it is now gone.
But not to worry, their moulds will still be in use. Besides, where can we find a better made 747 in this scale? ![]() |

The name may still live on with those counterfeit/knock-off BigTurds which recently appeared; at least we all know to AVOID any future so-called Big Bird Models!

Like any of the rogue manufacturers Big Bird had to go. Rather than thanking their customers for buying their products, they openly attack them instead. With that kind of business practice, they wouldn't have been around much anyway. Maybe whoever takes over the moulds will at least know how to spell and not be colour blind!

Hey, I don't know if any of you are familiar with the 1:500 scale world, but do any of you remember C&C? They were said to be the old identity of Big Bird. Maybe they are having a name change.
Oh... I see, its that big bird who is going away, ok.

I don't know what it is that you lads have against sofas? I have had some of the best times in my life on a sofa. If it were not for furniture we would have to sit on the floor. Your models would not have a display case. Furniture is more important than models are. it were not for fellows like Todd you guys would not have a bed to sleep in, or some place to wax your dolphin. How would you like to sleep on the floor tonight?
What do each of you do for a living? No job at the moment you say? Going to college? Mailman? School Teacher? Goat blower? Goldy |

Here in the UK I am hearing that there may have been a legal tussle over the ownership of the Big Bird name.
My guess is that a former Big Bird employee, Johnny Lo, who was outed may have succeeded in his claim that he alone owned the trade name Big Bird. Anyway, the mold Johnny Lo has appears at close inspection to be indistinguisable to the real Big Bird. Now they will be marketed as Big Bird and perhaps Andrew Klein will sell under another name. I am sure he will still sell as briskly regardless of brand. Bottom line for us collectors is that competition is good! I do not care who makes these and make my selection on the basis of subject matter and quality. It seems that licensing is really not an issue anymore. Every producer places some or all in clandestine boxes. Am I right in this presumption? |

The mould. Could someone have stolen the mould from Big Bird? On close inspection it appears to be the same. If I had stolen your car...on close inspection would it look like your car when you finally did recover it? Competition is good. It is good for us all. Presumption and hearsay is not good. Andrew Klein seems to be doing well and fine with his AeroClassics brand. His Boeing models carry the blessing of the Boeing legal department. If you want to throw around the term "legal" then there is a lega for you. Do any of those Blue Box, Big Bird, or any other BB brand coming out of Hong Kong carry with them this blessing from the Boeing company? Licensing is a huge issue, anymore. That is if you are the one who is in fact licenseless. Goldy |

OK BB's moulds were great period! Their model selections were great period!
But their lack of QA and not producing models with the correct names and colours have lead to their demise. Im glad thier moulds will go on, but im glad that a manufactuer who cant get it right shouldnt be in the game!!

Are Johnny Lo, Brinkley Chan and Kermit Chinese? I believe most models are produce in China anyway.
