Default Say your worst!

OK , we haven't done this in a while....what is the absolute single worst 1/400 model in terms of accuracy that you were dumb enough to buy and still say to this day.............. WTF was I ever thinking !
My personal embarrasment out of 400 models is the Tucano NWA DC-9 NC.

The Tucano ANA "Snoopy" 747. I never saw what the product looked like and pre-ordered it. When I got the model in the mail I was shocked by the look of the cockpit.
To this day the model sits buried way in the back of my cabinet.

DW United A320/A319 and DW Northwest A320. Easily the winners (or losers) in my fleet.

Default My 2 cents....

Tucano again............
Worst model was a 1:400 scale Tucano Air New Zealand B747-400 "Frodo" Lord of the Rings Livery.

Bloody shocking model.
The tail was all blue with the Koru symbol - should be half blue , half teal colour. (Huge Mistake)
The LOTR livery was blurrey , kind of smeared.

Never brought a Tucano since and never will again.

The Herpa 1:400 United 772. Yikes! Dragon's was better and Gemini's much better. But my 5-year-old nephew liked it so now it's his.

Well. I Guess I'm Very Lucky. I Started Collecting Mid 2002. So, Very Few Hateful Models.
But If I Got To Pick A Few I Will Have To Give The Worst To These:
DW A-321 Austrian Prinz Gau
DW A-321 Austrian Johann Strauss
DW A-321 Alitatalia.
DW Singapore 777-200 50th Anniversary Ribbon Livery.

I Have 2 Screws, Air Canada & Finnair

Tucrappo/Phoenix/Gemini MD-83 Air Jamaica
Tucrappo Balair DC-9-32
Tucrappo/Navigator Delta DC-9-32
Gemini/Tucrappo Delta DC-9-32
Gemini/Tucrappo TWA DC-9-32 Final Colors
Gemini/Dreamjets A-340 Gulf Air 50th
All 8 Gemini 757s In My Collection.
All Gemini 330s In My Collection.

But I Won't Part With Any Of These Until Something Better Can Replace Them.

As Far As The Worst I've Ever Seen, Just Take A Look At The Herpa 1:400 Line.
The DW TCA 319 Was An Abbhorition, Too.

I certainly agree this model is bad, especially with the lousy gear. Same too for the Canada 3000 A320.

Gemini's NWA 757-300 in the new colors. The mould is great, the color is way off in my opinion. It looks like a gold sparkling metal tube.

This is interesting. What with all of the trash talk I have seen regarding Big Bird mistakes over the past couple of months, to date, i don't see one BB listed. With that said I'll wager someone will now post a BB, just to prove me wrong. No AeroClassics on the list? My worst is any Herpa with those funky gear that are common in the early 1:500 models.

Default Color innacuracy kills it

My dog-of-all-time has to be the NetModels Valujet DC-9.
I bought it online, so I didn't realize from the picture the color was so bad.

PURPLE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
How does anyone confuse baby blue with purple???????
I don't know either, but the back half of the plane is light purple, not baby blue!!!!

Goldy,
If You Look Closely In My Post (#17) You Will See 2 Screws.
It Took Me Three Years To Get The Courage To Buy These, But With The
Possibility Of Having To Wait 5 Years For New Generation DC-9-15s, I Got No Choice But Try To Bag A Few.

Big Bird Does Have Mistakes, Too, But We Are Talking About The Worst Models.
Other Than The Birthday Girl And the KOrean & The TMA,
Big Birds Are Still My Fave. I Think You Saw My List On 400SH. I Have About 70.
Currently My Holy Grail Is The Varig Club Model 743. It Has The White Pinstripes.

BB airframes are for the most part accurate and the errors tend to be minor annoyances. AC certainly has some qualifiers, but what we are seeking here is the worst of the worst in the 1/400 world, 1/500 doesn't count.
My personal opinion is the worst models on this thread are still better than most Herpas, but the Herpa A346 and A345 are up there with the best of the best.

No matter the mistakes, current models are going to be better than some of the offerings from 6-7 years back.
I'll never forget getting an Iberia A340, liked the model, but almost fainted when I saw that the landing gear had to be assembled and the tiny tires came on a sprue like a kit, but the size...yikes!
I think my worst model, besides the early A320/21 from DW has a Herpa 747 I bought when I first dicovered 1/400 models. I ordered one Herpa, a couple of GJ and a couple of DW to check them out. I was hooked by the GJ and DW models. Don;t remember why I found the Herpa odd, I remember it was a United model, but it just looked very odd.
Later, and as much as I lked the L1011, I never got used to the GJ seam on the tail, that bothered me more than the "compromise" wings. But the model was nothing to be ashamed of, it was more a shame that the smooth clean ines of the L1011 were so disrupted by the model.
