Default Diecast Book

Has anyone seen the new diecast airplane book.....well it might not be new now, but I just got it
There a few blatant inaccuracies.....and maybe this has already been talked about.
A 777 being labeled a 757.
A Dyna-flites being labeled as a Schabak

A few others.....while it is nice to have a book.....I expected better quality checks as it came from aviation enthusiasts!

Any one else see this book?

It's Tom Miller's Big Book of Toy Airplanes.

This is a toy airplane book with lots of typographical and factual errors, combined with some fairly well-known items listed under "unknown manufacturer."

Nevertheless, the author is a sincere and intelligent man who has been collecting planes since the 70s. The text is well-written and reflects this background. Miller is an absolute expert in antique, cast iron toys, and this section is outstanding. There's really nothing for 1:400 fans in this book; rather, it's a fun book on collecting some other sorts of toy planes.

There are some AeroMini, Corgi and Schabak models featured.

Too many to mention. Cast iron, die cast toys and models, caricature toys (i.e. Snoopy in his Sopwith Camel) and even a pillow plane made of fabric. The die cast airplane banks popular several years ago are labelled as being made of "pressed steel" There are some tin toys (but none of the great old US, German and Japanese examples) and no 1:400 or 1:500, only 1:600 Schabak. A few display models and spacecraft from science fiction shows round out the lot.

The die cast manufacturers are: AeroMini, Aluminum Industries, Avon, Barclay, Buddy-L, Campo Co (Russian models), Corgi, Compagnie Industrielle du Jouet, Danbury Mint, Dinky, Edison, Erie, Ertl, Franklin Mint, Gabriel, Goodee Toy, Hubley, Kansas Toy and Novelty, KEJ Mfg Co, Lincoln White Metal, Lintoy, London Toy Museum, Londontoy, Maisto, Mak A Plane, Matchbox, Mattel, Mercury, Midgetoy, Nakajima, NZG, Precision Acco Casting, Renwal, Revell, Schabak, Schuco, Solido, Taylor & Barrett, Tekno, Timpo, Tintoys, Tonka, Tootsietoy, Union Model Co, Universal, CA Woods, and Zee.

It contains about 555 photos (185 pages with three photos on each page).

The book begins with a favorite quote: "Some young people are starting collections because of occupations with airlines, military service, or other aviation involvement."

There is a book about airliner models in 1/400 scale (and it is definitely NOT the book UAL191 was talking about):

I must confess that I've not seen that before.

The photos are ... different... from most photos of toys/models I have seen.

Thankyou for the detailed information ANTHONY F DUVA JR,

I think someone should produce a book every year that included information, errors, photographs and reviews of the models released in 1/400 scale. Though with the number of releases every year, it maybe hard ( financially )by just the one person

How small would a book in 1/400th be? Can you even see it?

By the way, to all the Buzz haters out there, Ralph's book is a print form of his 1/400th model posts...he's an amazing photographer and a major addition to the Buzz's content.
