Delta's first operational DC 9 (and therefore the first DC 9 in airliner service) which carried the name on the nose "Delta Prince". The naming of aircraft was a very unusial practice for Delta, and used for very short periods of protional impact only. Another case was the first 747-132 was named "Dixie Bell" with bold script type writing on nose. The ex-Pan Am DC 8-33 carried their clipper names when they were still in Pan Am markings only. They flew in these marking for quite some time. Many were used on Pacific routes by Pan Am and carried Oriental names, such as "Clupper Cathay". The nicknames for these difficult aircraft was "Chinese Eights" among many pilots, mechanics, and operations personel.

I don't believe Sovereign has ever designed a mold of their own, they only use/acquire/rent/lease others.

But if there's somebody who'd do a good looking 9-10 mould, then my top choice would be Germanair DC-9-15, D-AMOR "Lovebird". Last edited by Phantom; 08-08-2005 at 07:30 PM. |

An old Air California black nose DC-9-10 would rock, as would an AeroCalifornia -10. Northwest would be cool too.

This would be my choice!
A beauty and a historical must have, as the first airline to fly after the U.S. Airline Deregulation Act!

I don't know if this might help for those in need of a DC-9-10 fix, but a seller on eBay has a bunch of Aeroclassics Series 10s on sale at extremely reasonable rates. When I looked, he presently has listed the following airlines:
Air Florida British Midland Air Canada Finnair KLM Bonanza Republic TWA Southern Northwest Texas International Continental Northest Midwest Braniff He sells as Variety-Supply-Online on Ebay and the url to his list is: http://stores.ebay.com/Variety-Suppl...dZ2QQpZ3QQtZkm I have bought 8 from him recently and gotten excellent service. Hope this helps the Series 10 munchies ![]() |

TWA in this case, is my second choice (and that is rare). Republic would be a great choice as well. But Midway would be a great choice.

I would specificially request the later DC-9-10's with the solid titles. TWA had two distinct batches of DC-9-10's:
1. Their original ones, ordered from the factory. They got rid of all of them before any made it to solid titles AFAIK. 2. The ones inherited from Ozark. Their first and only TWA scheme was solid titles. So you can tell if it's one of TWA's original DC-9-10's or if it was inherited from Ozark, by whether it has hollow or solid titles, since there was no overlap of those planes/schemes. Unless someone finds a photo of a DC-9-10 from the original batch (N1050T through 1070T) with solid titles.

But I saw this in a thread before started by the same person! What is this the Twilight Zone.http://www.diecastaircraftforum.org/...ad.php?t=39811 And if you got those Aero Classics ones many of you would not be asking the question of what airline operated this plane as I see two people have asked and have been done. Remember that was the second mold type so. As I am still satisfied with mine, thank you. Last edited by Chansen; 01-07-2007 at 12:11 AM. |
