Default Canada Day...Models, Links To Pics

I See The Political Correctness Machine Of This Forum Is Hard At Work.
Not One Mention Of Canada Day.

So, I'll Have To Be The Ambassador To All The Hoser's Out There, Eh?
Happy Canada Day, Drink Lot's Of Canadi>n, & Labbatts Blue, Eh? & Get Some Practice Rolling Cigarrettes With Your Skidoo Mitts On, Eh?

And Don't Forget To Have Police Food(Donuts) For Breakfast With Lots Of Maple Syrup At Tim Horton's, Eh?

OK... So...Like..Take Off...All You Hoser's, Eh?

Sorry I Did,nt Post Yesterday But I Was Too Busy Creating These Fine Pics In Photoshop (9 Hours + Picture Taking Time)

Here's The Links To My Pics.( Sorry I Didn't Post Here, Picture Limit Is Far Too Small) There's A Smorgasborg.

From Yesterday http://www.400scalehangar.net/forum/...pic.php?t=7711
From Today http://www.400scalehangar.net/forum/...pic.php?t=7721

Popular dish/comfort food in Canada - anyone from Canada want to explain? Never had, but from what I've read, can't wait to try on my next trip!

My apologies to our Canadian friends - should have spelled it correctly - "Poutine" - but pronounced like the Russian head of state - Putin. This link should help -

From what I remember it's really nasty looking but it tastes good.

Let Me Clarify. First It's Spelled Poutine.
Second, It's A French-Canadian Invention From Quebec Enjoyed ( Falsely) By Canadians Across The Country.
Why I Said Falsely Is Because 90 % Of All Canadians Are Duped In To Believing Poutine Is Made Of French-Fries Topped With Melted Process Cheese & Smothered With Either A Flour Or Corn Starch Gravy Flavoured With A Salt Lick Boullion & Browning, Typically What You Will Find At Most Fast Food Restaurants.

If Any Of You Had French Cheese From A Real European Deli You Will Know Proceesed Or Even Supermarket Deli Cheese Is Wrong.
Also The Sauce (Not Gravy) Is Supposed To Be A Beef Broth Moire Poire, Thickened With A Little Flour & Sour Cream.
Lastly, The Cheese Is Not Supposed To Be Melted.( The French In Quebec Get Very Angry)

A Tasty Treat, If Done Right, & Looks Nice Too.

Real Canadian Dishes Are Made With Fish & Game, Homemade Bread, Root Vegatables & Greens. Some Of the Vegatables Are Made Into Creative Puddings.

I Have Eaten Caribou (Very Delicious) Seal, Arctic Hare, Porcupine, Moose (Not Very Good) Black Bear (Ditto, Very Hard & Grizzely) Pun. Ptarmigan ( Makes Nice Soup, Too.) A Variety Of Ducks & Geese,

A Variety Of Fish Including: Arctic Char, Atlantic Salmon & Ouinanice
(Pronounced Wananish, A Species Of Landlocked Salmon.) White Fish, Great Northern Pike (Too Rich, Any Age) Many Species Of Trout, Caplin, Northern Cod, Smelts. ( our Smelts Are Large Enough To Catch With A Line & Hook. They Are Pan Sized Between 6 & 9 Inches Long)

There Is A Restaurant In Toronto That Serves Such Food Called the "Canoe"
They Also Serve Buffalo, Which I've Never Tried.

& Happy July Fourth To All You Americans.
Salute!

I have to tell you - love Canada! Happy Canada day, guy!
Can you recommend any good restauarnts in Quebec City or Halifax? And while the Poutine subject is there, any really good places in Quebec City to get some for a newbie (to Poutine, that is)?
P.S.- Landor did *not* do UA - a former Landor employee formed CKS - they did blue/grey - wish it had been Landor...

Halifax...My Old Stomping Grounds! Well...Let's See... Fast Food.... DONAIRS!!!!

Maple...Exquisite Cuisine...Founded By National Chef Micheal Smith. Left To Have His Own TV Shows On Food TV Network Canada.(The Guy Is Just Awsome. Sous Chefs He Left Behind Are Equal.)

Good Lobster On The Harbourfront, Clipper Key.

Been VERY Long Time, So Not Up On Restaurants Anymore.

Don't Know Any Restaurants In QC, But I'm Willing To Bet You Get Nice Poutine! (I Reccommend The Little Bistros Rather Than Fast Food Restaurants
Or Hotels. They Tend To Have Better Ingridients)

You're Absolutely Right, But they Also Incorporated The Saul Bass Tail Logo.
We Know It As The Landor Scheme In YYZ.
It Rolls Off The Tounge Better Than The "Worldwide Service" Or "Gray" Colors.

In Halifax.
I Forgot To Mention A Few Important Details.
You Have To Book A Table At The Maple In Advance. It's Very Small & VERY In Demand.
So, Here's The Link.
http://www.bestcoastdining.ca/novascotia/maple.html
Here's Another
http://www.bestcoastdining.ca/novascotia/halifax.html

You've Missed The Natal Day Celebrations & Concert On The Hill, But I Think The Street Buxter Festival Runs For Much Of The Summer.

Also You Will Find The Downtown Core Is Tiny, Quaint & Is Easily Walked Or A Very Short Bus Ride. Argyle St, In Particular Is A Spot Famous For Bar Hopping & Happy Hour! One Dollar Draft & .25 Cent Wings & Other Bargains, All Hammering It Out Side By sSde.
& Don't Miss Out On The Noon Hour Cannon At The Citadel.

If You Stay At The Sheraton Barrigton St., Chef Micheal Smith Once Worked There.

I Don't Know All that Much About Quebec City, Except VERY Historic & Perhaps The Most Beautiful City In Canada.
I Want To Sit Where Churchill, Stalin, Roosevelt & The Canadian Prime Minister Sat In The Quebec Conference During WWII. Near Chateu Frontenac.

In Qebec City.
I Also Reccommend Crepes With Quebec Maple Syrup, Perhaps The Best In Canada. Can't Say Much For Our Beer, Though, I Much Prefer European.

Am taking what is my third cruise to New England and Eastern Canada - these itins have ALWAYS been the best and MOST fun! Atlantic Canada tends to be my favorite - love Halifax and want to spend more time there. As you said, Quebec City is an extraordinarily beauitful city. Going in early October, to see the foliage. Only overnighting in QC, but that WILL be a real treat - LOVE it there too! Will check those places out - if u ever get to NY and want to some recommendations, I;m the resident food critic for my office!

Belated "VIVA CANUCKISTAN"! I'm in YVR right now and it's a wonderful city in a wonderful country.

I think I'll stay here through 2008...
