Default Which Varig MD-11 shall I get???

I'm currently adding some Varig models to my collection and I'm interested in the MD-11 "2000s" colors. As there are two models of this plane on the market - GJ and DW - I'm not sure, which one I shall get. The disadvantage of the GJ version is that it comes together with a video tape, which I'm not interested in. Thus it costs nearly twice as much as the DW version. What do you think??? Does any of you have one of these or both models???

Here are some pics of the models:

(GJ Version - picture from www.delftblue.de)

(DW Version)

Though I *much* prefer DW's mold, for this one I got the GJ. Why? Because the stripe on the DW is screwed up. It angles, curves, isn't straight, mis-aligned, etc. This is also one of the GJ MD-11's where the cockpit is NOT totally screwed up. Because it's an older one.

I have all VARIG MD-11s. Concerning the DW or GJ MD-11 I prefer the DW because of the tail seam on the GJ model.

I suppose it depends on which feature is more important to you..

In this case, Gemini gets the nod for better printing, while Dragon's MD-11 beats Gemini's 11 hands down.

Up to you!

You mean these?

(More pics on request)

While these aren't of the model in question, it does show you just how good the Dragon mould is.

Thanks for your opinions. I usually prefer the DW MD-11 over GJ's version, but this time I wasn't sure about the printing. Anyway, as I'm not interested in the video I'm going to get the DW version.

Santos, nice Varig MD-11 collection you have there. I just ordered the Phoenix n/c and the GJ o/c. I'm looking forward for mine to arrive.

Talking Santos:The whole VARIG MD-11 1:400 fleet ???

Santos, I think your collection is missing 1 (and to be 100% correct 2) MD-11's from VARIG:
- the STAR ALLIANCE
- the SMILE promotion one (OK, it's the same reg. as the normal release)

Hope like you to see much more VARIGs soon...

Hey StillAir, Where have you been buddy? I havenīt seen you here for a long time. Welcome back!!!

You are right. The new DW RG MD-11 Star Alliance is coming, I purchased it only a few days ago. Concerning the DW Corporate realease MD-11 along with the 737-300 and 767-200 are very hard to find. A few days ago a DAC member asked U$ 500.00 for the 3 CW corporate releases. I gave up because I canīt afford it.

And Faheem,

Yes, I was talking about your great MD-11 pic. Your pics are amazing.

Lightbulb If you can afford, get them both!

GJ's Varig MD-11 on that livery also come with VCR tape that shows the flight, inside of the MD-11 and etc like that.

Now that GJ has a 762 mould may be we're lucky and see a Varig 762 either in the o/c and the 2000s colors, so we don't have to watch out for the DW corporate version;-). Those would awesome.

Exclamation Shame On You!!!!

Varig LOG request, Not a complete fleet!

We need one more, A Star alliance (Whole white fuselage and tail with Varig's color letterings, titles, etc)

Then that's it!

Unless they paint something new.

The new VARIG MD-11 is great. I would love to have this model in my collection. Great pic Stil Air.

John, I agree with 100%, ops sorry, 100000000 % !!!!

But the problem is that are many collectors hate the |Star Alliance liveries so I suppose the manufactures would be afraid of releasing this kind of models. I like all MD-11 and DC-10 liveries so I will purchase it for sure.

Dragon's Tri-jets Are Unbeatable. However I Got the Gemini, Because It was The First Year I Started Collecting & I Didn't Know About The Tail Seam Difference Between DW & Gemini. The Deciding Factor Was The Price: On Clearance For $25.00 CAD (19.00USD) Plus On CAP Day An Additional 20% OFF! So, $20.00 CAD Or $16.00 USD.
For That Price, I Could Not Buy the Dragon.
