Default DW or GJ Lufthansa DC-10?

Hi,

I already have the GJ Lufthansa DC-10, but am considering replacing it with the DW version because I hate the GJ tail seam on the DC-10.

Seeing Brinkley’s photos, the DW version seems much darker and its engines appear to be tilted and pointing towards the ground. Is this true or is it just an illusion?

Please advise me whether it is worth going through the hassle of buying a DW version and selling the GJ version just to get rid of the tail seam?

Your replies are much appreciated.

I have the DW model and have seen the GJ in person. The DW is much better in my opinion. I find that mine doesn't have the kind of problems you described.

DW, hands down. The Dragon DC-10 is one of their best moulds to date.

Default GJ DC-10

I have no problem with the tail seam, but with DC-10, the biggest problem IMO is that all dash numbers are using the same wing. The GJ wings are matel though.

Didn't we have this same thread just a few weeks ago?

If you have the GJ and you saw the pics of the DW than you decide what you like better and not what the others like.
Just go to a hobby shop and decide for yourself.

Thumbs up DW DC-10

I haven't seen the GJ, but my DW LH DC-10 is, outside of the DW KLM MD-11 (oc - 55296), my favorite model of all my 60+ models. Also, if you like LH, the Aeroclassics 707 is gorgeous.

Re. GJ vs. DW moulds, I generally lean towards Gemini (esp. for 727 and 757's), but the DW DC-10, MD-11 and 767 moulds are clearly the better of the two (on top of the tail seams, the noses are a bit off on these GJ's).

Lastly, ask away as far as comparisons go. That in part is what this forum is for. How many hobby shops do you live anywhere near that are going to carry both a GJ and DW Lufthansa DC-10? Since the local Rite-Aid stopped carrying them, I've been out of luck on that score. So, if you don't trust the photos, and you don't want to pay return/re-stocking fees or get screwed selling on e-bay, ask questions. It might keep you from having to give away a Delta Widget MD-11 to a nephew because you initially bought the wrong manufacturer.
