Angry Shows in 2004.......

OK fellas, how's it going?!?!?!

I won't be able to make it to the LAX show this month on account of it's my last week of training BUT after that, I should be able to make almost any other show throughout the course of the year.

Can anyone throw a list my way for the first 6 months of 2004?

Thanks

EJT

Good to see you back Tumath! Too bad you can't make it to LAX...bah! There is a show in SFO, 27 March I think...also AI2004 in LAX which takes place 6-8 July (the 8th being mah birthday!), so you better be there! How goes BA anyway?

Cool

Hi Eddy,

The one you should try to make is Airliners International at LAX in July. (I'll try to look up the dates later.) This is much larger (I believe) than your usual LAX show, and it will not be held at the Crappienda! The show is a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday thing, so you'll have plenty of time to meet a lot of people.

Also, you should try to make it out for the LAST ( ) SFO show on 27 March. It is not as large as LAX, but we have some good people up here (me, Piarco, FlyFrontier, Richie154, and hopefully Scott as well). I think SMA will be in attendance as well! Come out for this one!! (and don't forget to wear your lavender slacks!)

Thanks for the info guys. LAST SFO show???? 27th March??? Why is it the last one?

I'm going to make sure I make it to that one then. I should be able to get the time off as it's on a weekend so all being well, I'll be there with bells on. I need to get my rota for the first couple of months, then I'll be able to sort something out.

Things going good, Richie. Thanks. In to my last week of training now and should get my first flight around 1st February - possibly a few days later.

Going to have an up-close and personal look at the 772 and 744 tomorrow as part of the "fam course" and the planes will be in the same hangar as the last remaining SSC so we're getting a close up look at her, too.

Glad to hear you'll be making it out! I suspect the shows are being cancelled due to a percieved lack of interest. Too bad; it's a nice little show, and there's a nice park for spotting later in the afternoon. Then we all eat at El Torito (good Mexican food!), which has a good view of incoming planes. If we're lucky this time there will be no ugly incidents with the San Mateo police dept. as there were last time (I'm not kidding either.)

What happened with the cops? I haven't been hassled when I spot at SFO, aside from some San Mateo PD cop who pulls over and watches me while I am at Bayfront...

RE: Lack of Interest: Is there anything that us NorCal collectors/enthusiasts can do to save the SFO show? How much does it usually cost to rent out a conference room at the Grovsnor?

Richie, I made an illegal u turn in front of of the Ben Franklin hotel in San Mateo, and this cop gave me some **** about it but was nice enough not to give me a ticket (when he saw that I was from out of town).

I would like to try to get another show in N. Cal as well. I wonder what could be done.

Wasn't a "spotting" problem...KJC tried to do a Steve McQueen U-turn across 4 lanes of traffic whilst dropping Scott off at the United Airlines former hotel, the Ben Franklin.... I had warned them that in our fair burgh, a U-turn across El Camino or 3rd Avenue was similar to armed robbery in Oakland...

ROTFL! That's the first time my driving has been compared to Steve McQueen's!

The S.F. show is not ending due to lack of interest but rather of burn out by Tom Dragges, the show organizer for the last twenty or so years. Don't fret though. Now I'm not one to gossip, so you didn't hear it from me, but there is an individual from Northern California who is going to create a new Northern California show here in the Gay Bay in the Fall or next year.
