Cool Different DRAGON A380 models

Coming back to the models which should be the only topic in this forum...

Yesterday we (employees of Fraport, the company which runs Frankfurt International Airport) got as a present a DRAGON A380 "AIRBUS" model (because we have just started the process of building a new very very big maintenance hangar for the A380 fleet of LUFTHANSA). At home I compared the model with the one from my collection and found one interesting difference... the main landing gear. The old model has a 4-wheel-main landing gear under the fuselage and a six-wheel-main landing gear under the wings. At the new model it is just the opposite.

Which configuration do you think will have the real plane ???

Good Question....
My DW airplanes came in different arrangements too....I posted this some months back...anyway the 6 wheel trucks should be positioned on the outside under the wings.

Hope this helps.

Default Six under the Body

My House colors A380 from two years ago came with six under the wings and four under the fuselage.

I did research (on-line) and it is WRONG: The six go under the body, which really makes more sense.

The good news is they are not glued in, so you can carefully pull them out and put them in the correct place.

Lemme look at my Revell kit......If thats true, my Lufthansa was right and my JX's need to have the bogies rotated. I thought I had settled this in an old thread here.

Yes, your Revell kit is indeed correct. Six on the body and four under the wings..............

The Airbus official website has wisely shown only pictures of the A380 in flight and no detailed technical drawings are available. However, the contracts are already out to BFGoodrich for the landing gears, so the design must be frozen somehow or someway if metal's already being cut for this bird.

According to Aerospace-Technology.com, it's four-wheel trucks under the wings and six-wheel trucks under the fuselage.

Revell's 1/144 A380 kit also has four-wheel trucks under the wings and six-wheel trucks under the fuselage.

Aviation Week is also reporting that the main gears will have a similar layout.
