Lightbulb 2004 Dodge Durango!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey,

Just discovered the all-new "second generation" Durango SUV! An 10% MPG improvement over old engine and big increase in power! Sounds encouraging? Your thoughts?

By the way I try to find gas tank size and unable to find information. Chryslers' products are like Ford that comes with small gas tank for that I hate the most! Since Ford Expedition have ugraded to 28 gallon tank for that should be approximately for that size. Chevrolet Suburban used to have like 35-40's gallon until after 2002(?) model that they trimmed the size to 31 gallon except 3/4 ton Suburban. There is lot of complaining want a big gas tank. I wonder why would Chevrolet trim that gas size while Ford expanded gas tank on new Expedition. Not any sense to me.

Nice truck/suv. I have always like the Durango, but they were always on the small side for mid-size SUVs. The 2004's are larger and if I remember correctly feature either the 4.7L High Output V8 which is anything but lacking some power and the brand new R/T, which upgraded from the old R/T's 5.9L V8 to the 345hp 5.7L Hemi V8. Gas mileage with the 4.7L is decent, but, like all other Dodge trucks and SUV's to carry either the R/T or SRT titles, the 5.7L is not very fuel efficient (neither was the 5.9L that was equiped in the pre-2004 Durango R/T's, pre-2004 Dakota R/T's and Dodge Ram SST).

Hey John, I just ordered a new 2004 Denali XL and yes, it only has 31 gal tank. Talk about a big truck, it's like driving the Queen Mary

This is similar as Suburban but more fancier as Suburban. I always like Suburban but the price is somewhat out of control. Yes I tend to agree that their MPG is great for that size!

However today market price doesnt make any sense for that they do need to restruction the pricing.

Example: Mid-line Tarus or Impala runs around $20,000 compare to most small-med SUV for about the same price range. Moreover big room benefit from SUV over a car especially with any personal or business projects being haul. I would not be surprise if they restruction those car, as mentioned above, price range to 10-13K range and SUV market would dry up. IMO

Decision decision decision.........

Yes, it is fancier than the Suburban but only a few thousand more, ($51,000)

What gets me is, my Benz was only $55,000, so this truck cost almost as much

Prices are getting wayyyyy out of control, I remember when you could buy a loaded Suburban for $25,000 not too many years ago

No, I have a pet-peeve against any type of hypocracy; no matter how small it might be especially against me. The rules apply to everyone or not all.

I saw one of these SUV monstrosities the other day with a bumper sticker that said,

My SUV is changing the environment,
Ask me how!

Wanna bet the owner didn't know it was on the bumper?

. . .

N1011,

I hope you don't take this too seriously: time to cut back on the caffeine intake, my friend.

Burning them caused more harm by burning the paint and other things. Damn ELF! As for me I should be getting 2004 Tahoe Z71.

We have been considdering a new SUV to replace our 95 Blazer which has well over 100K miles on it within the next 2 years, the Durango has not been considdered but we have looked at the Cadillac Escalade and now the exciting new Cadillac SRX.

Default Is Bigger better? - Heck Yes!!

Earlier this year my wife and I were driving a brand new Chevy Surburban in Denver when this guy in a old Buick sedan decided to run a red light and crashed right into us. From the accident report he was traveling at or above 45 mph. So you want to know what will happened when you hit a Surburban at high speed while driving a smaller car? Well I will tell you. The gentleman that hit us broke both hips, suffered a head trauma, and totaled his car. My wife suffered a mild cuncussion and the both of us walked away without a scratch. My dog that was in the back was fine as well. Best part was the Surburban was a rental and I had the full insurance. Unfortunatly, the Surburban was totaled as the frame was bent. However, if we were driving anything smaller, we would suffered far more extensive injuries. It was incredible how the Surburban absorbed the impact instead of us absorbing it.

Needless to say, I am about to order the ultimate SUV. No p ussy Cadalliac, Surburban, or Durango. Nope we are talking a Hummer H2! I have looked at a lot of SUV's of late. The Porsche Cayanne is really nice, from the inside and drives like a dream. The outside is just plain but ugly and there is no way I will spend 100k on that. The Volvo is really nice as well, but is just too darn small compared to a Surburban or Hummer. For where I live the Hummer makes a lot of sense. I csan take it off road almost every day, in the winter, no problem with the snow, and I really don't drive that much when I sm in town, maybe 200 miles a week or less. Sure gas is $2.15 a gallon where I live, but after that accident, I can't afford to not pay it. Plus I get to piss off those environmentalist terrorists as well.

Question

T-Man, I was looking at the H-2 as well but one thing im not clear on is the gas milage, they are above the weight where the maker needs to post the milage so it seems that no one really knows, I am wondering if the H-2 requires a "Gas guzzler" tax?

The H2 gets about 13 MPG highway and 10 city, 14.1 is the best I have recorded so far with 3,200 miles on the odo.
Because of their classification (weight) they are exempt from gas guzzler tax and EPA fuel economy standards.
This truck does, however get better fuel economy than the Ford Excursion with a gas engine.
The H2's are extremely popular in Utah right now.
