Default Big Red Roo

Why in god's name would a manufacturer want to release a miniature which represents an aircraft in the middle of painting.

The original of the 747-400ER big red roo was photographed between base coat (done by Boeing) and the final Wunala Dreaming scheme done by another paint shop.

The aircraft only made one flight in that scheme I believe.

The QF 747-400 Formula 1 will make its way into my collection, but the other........

Shakes head in amazement

I'm soooo happy that we finally found a maufacturer doing this F1 plane for us. Luckily there are no other cs out there that are overdue to be made.

I passed on the GJ, I passed on the GW and I'll pass on the BB as well.

Pass on the all-red QF 744..... it's supposed to be an ER right ? Are there supposed to be any visual differences between a normal 744 and the ER version ?

Default -400 vs -400 ER

To the best of my knowledge, there is no outward difference between a -400 and -400ER, certainly none that would be visable on a 1:400 scale model.

No extra landing gear, just stronger landing gear.

Default -400 vs -400ER

From Gordon's old post, there are some differences?

I am not aware of the reaked wingtips. I thought the winglets (not wingtips) of -400ER are the same as -400. Confused here.

Also is the wing root difference visible? I have no time to compare two photos of -400 and -400ER. Anyone did it?

I was busy then and did not have time to follow Gordon's old post. Now here is a another chance to dig out the facts through discussions.

Hope to have a Qantas B747-438ER in regular livery and Wunala Dreaming scheme in 1/400 soon.

I'll pass on these.

I'm still waiting for BB to make the Nalanji Dreaming 743 that Gordon and Andrew said they would.

I'm all over the Formula One.

The red 744 is ridiculous.

Default Vissible differences between 400 and 400ER

Like Travis said, the gears have been strengthened and the only vissible difference to the 400 are the stronger (larger) tires.

To expand on Phantom's comment about tires, the tires are a mere 1 inch larger in diameter. I saw two QF 400ERs and one regular 400 at LAX in early August and they look damn near identical with the exception of having GE engines as opposed the the regular's Rollers and the extra "Boeing 747-400ER" titles just above the wings.

COOL TO SEE 'EM TO SMOKE FRESH RUBBER ON RUNWAYS?

Anyway, Yes similar as the MD-11 with certain configurations requirement and they use more plys in tire for the ones that have maxium lbs of 630,500+ compare the ones that configurates with 600,000- lbs.

At that point I am more than sure that rims are the same size but extra plys over it and made it more thicker.
