Default Biggest and smallest aircrafts for this scale

I got the an-225 which looks like it's the biggest aircraft for this scale since the spruce goose is apparently not avail.

what is the smallest one? i couldn't find anything smaller than an-42 or crj. Was hoping for like a small business jet or a private prop but no such thing. Any suggestion on something even smaller than atr42 or crj? thanls

The smallest 1:400 scale models I have are the Bombardier DHC-100 Air Canada Jazz, the CRJ-200 Air Canada Jazz and Douglas DC-3 Icelandair, KLM and Aeroflot (LI-2).

Saab 340 must be the smallest, then the Short 360 ?

DC-3 would be the shortest but it does have a fairly wide wingspan. CRJ has the shortest wingspan. The CRJ would be like a midsize business jet equivalent.

I don't know why no one makes business jets in 1:400. I would like to have a citation X or a G650. I wish i could have my training wheel, a cessna 152 or 172 to display next to those heavies...

I got the atr42 and crj on order. much appreciated if anyone has anything even smaller. thanks.

Yeah, i think saab 340 is the smallest combination of length and wingspan. I think i will have to look for one of those also . have the short 360 on order too.

Avro 748 is pretty small too, even if its wingspan is not. I also wish there was more small airliners, like Metroliners, Nord 262, or EMB 120.

Looks like the limit is about 60 something ft in length for the smallest aircraft in this scale. The only way to have smaller aircraft is if they start making one for the smaller regional transports or business jet or smaller.

Even a DC-3 still have length of over 60ft and wingspan 90 something ft. so the largest one, an225 is really only a little more than 4 x as long and slightly 3 x wingspan. so dimensionwide any of these airplanes are still fairly big.

I think a lot of these airport diorama needs to have human scale figures alongside to make them more realistic as well as to give better appreciation of the scale.

The Beechcraft 1900, Jetstream 31, Jetstream 41, and EMB-120 would be great to see in 1:400 in various '80s and '90s liveries, but that's just a pipe dream.

I've got two Beech 1900Ds in 1/400.
However, these are 3D printed 'kits' that require assembly, paint & decals so probably not what most people are looking for.
They also do a Cessna 172 which would be the 1/400 record holder!

As far as diecast goes, the Saab 340 seems to be the smallest.
I suspect these little subjects don't get produced as much because;
1) they cost nearly as much to make as the larger models, raw materials being a small percentage of production cost.
2) they tend to cover local operators which will appeal to smaller sections of the market as opposed to the major carriers.
Both of which will presumably put a bit of a brake on sales compared to something big and globally recognisable.

Which is a pity as I really like these little gems and find the endless stream of bleeding edge twin jets that the manufactures pour out every month pretty boring.

I guess the difficulties of working on such tiny elements maybe a factor too. I hope manufacturers can overcome all of this someday.

This thread inspired me to get some new small planes. I agree, the Saab 340 is the smallest diecast with landing gear.

This ebay seller has tiny resin plane and heli kits that I will try to make later.
