Default DW sued by AA over A300....rumor or fact?

Does anyone know if this is true? The AA A300 by DW has been delayed for some time now. Perhaps the lawsuit also includes the re-release of the TWA 717? Just wondering if we will ever see this A300.

Surely there is an explanation for this DW picture?

Just curious, why would AA sue Dragon for making a model of their airline but not distributing it to stores?

I mean, if they sent the model to stores without AA's permission, I can see why they'd be upset. So since they haven't I can only imagine that this rumor is not true.

Maybe they made the model without AA's permission? Perhaps it was to be an AA "exclusive" and DW disregarded the request? I don't think AA was very happy with DW's re-release of the TWA 717 so perhaps AA has said NO to any more licensed DW releases. It appears that only GJ and Aeroclassics have the green light from AA. Yes, its total spectulation but no one has a legitimate explanation?

I haven't heard that DW re-released the TWA 717. Where did you hear this?

From what Brian (on the Jet-X forum) has said, Jet-X no longer has the AA license, but Dragon still does. So this adds to the confusion!

Are you sure its not just American not wanting an Airbus model fairly soon after the accident at JFK?

Question Maybe.....

.....just maybe they will need to go through CR SMith for this one. And I would venture to say it would be probable that a deal could be worked out with them. I have heard that CR SMith has the exclusive right to distribute American Airlines/TWA models and materials.

I have been known to be wrong however. Just ask anyone.

From an employee's perspective, & from what I've heard from people at the C.R. Smith Museum when I've visited, they DO seem to favor GJ & Aeroclassics for their 1/400 scale models.

In fact when I last visited the shop in person last September, the sales person told me that the museum shop will no longer be carrying DW, in favor of offering only GJ for its current 1/400 models. And of course, there will be AC models of planes from AA's past.

CR Smith is a retail operation owned by AA. They are not involved in the licensing of AA models.

All licensing is done through Equity Management in San Diego.

From what I have heard, the CR Smith Museum has the rights to all the licensing agreements on models. So who ever want to produce a model with an AA logo must go through them first.
