Default QF F1 744 by Tucano???

Well there goes the Neighbourhood.

Looks like Tucano have **********-e-d up all those owners of GJ QANTAS F1 jets by releasing their own version. It won't be of the same quality but it will affect the value for those wishing to sell on eBAy.

Lets see wat else they can ********** up in 2003.

IMO this is a great opportunity for collectors (like myself) who didn't get a chance to get the Gemini version.

My only complaint is that TL will most likely do something to screw up this livery. However, if they do a great job, I just might get one!

Well John, I usually don't agree or understand what you say, but this time, YOU ARE DEAD ON

There is no way Tucano will match the quality that Gemini put out!

My bets are on the 'complicated' formula one race car thats on the side of this plane.

Seeing as there are so few reference photos (150 on A.Net) it might be hard for them to nail this part.

Question

Are you guys sure it's a Tucano release? Eztoys announced it as a Golden Wings.

It is there attempt at fooling the collectors.

I think Golden Wings use Tucano moulds for their own models. You know, just like some collectors use DW all whites for their custom models.

I bet you can buy a GJ version on e-bay for cheaper than this piece-o-sheit.

I've never understood the fascination with this model. I sold mine for $150 US a while ago and couldn't believe it. It's not that nice, IMHO, and there are several much nicer models that have never done anything on the secondary market.

Because the Gemini model is well-made, I predict that it will remain in demand.

I agree that the quality of Gemini in the 1:400 field is incomparable, but shouldn't at least one version of an attractive model plane be available to the masses, and not just to the few ?

Like the Air India 744. It's sold-out from GJ and it looks truly beautiful, but can't fetch more than $30 bucks US.

Thank goodness the other die-cast makers don't do anything like this.

Well you really can't compare a Tucano and Gemini Jets model. Gemini Jets is far better than the other. But remember the first few Dragon's. They weren't that great either, however people still bought them. The only collectors that will purchase this model will be those who can't fork out $200.00 . With practise comes perfection, who know later on down the road, mind you it might be a long road, Tucano may come out on top.

Even though I doubt that my self, it can still happen. But these collectable can't get worse, they are getting better. I thankfully have the Gemini Qantas F1, which I am greatful for.

Ya. Eztoyz has a Tucano version up for pre-order but I can bet you Dragon Wings (err... Flying Colors) will release one too...

Default Value of GJ Qantas F1

A drop in value of the GJ Qantas F1 is unlikely. Consider Braniff 747 "Big Orange" (1st GJ club model). Despite the subsequent DW release, the GJ club model still fetches a lot of money.
